Open v.s. Pro ?

Lastly, i just want to say that i was really looking foward to playing in the predator Tour this year because Tournament director William Finnegan told me a month before the predator started 2011, that the entry for a Pro would be 115.00 and a Open would be 100.00, i was in heaven seeing that i can finally play in a ''FAIR '' Tournament, which '' ALL '' the entry level's were staggered correctly, IMHO, I have alway's supported the Predator Tour and Mr. Tony Robles, who i happen to think and know is one of the ''BEST '' and '' Fairest '' Gentleman i have ever known, ( I know he got most of that from his Father, lol,) then i asked Tournament Director Finnegan what happened to the Entry Fees with the Open-Pro class, there still the same, and he gave he usual non-shalent answer, i have nothing to do with that, and i was devestated, so i ''Truly '' wish, the Predator Tour the best of luck again this year, but unfortunatley, I will be a ''RAILBIRD '' ( hate it! ) this year again, and will be known as '' the bad guy '' for sticking to my personal beliefs, but this is America, and the right of ''FREEDOM OF SPEECH '' still holds true, for now!! Thank you everyone for listening to what i said here, and please would appreciate what you guy's think, Thanks, Bobby B.

I commend you, you are man of principle. However, there is no room for someone w/principles in pool so keep sitting it out!:grin::grin: LOL (just kidding).

But you are only hurting yourself by not playing the game you say you love. By sitting out and turning yourself into the "bad guy", it would be harder for you to help make a change. If you were participating, enjoying the competition and keeping everything friendly, you may have a chance to make a change. I feel you made the wrong choice - you know "freedom of speech" ;).

Do you ever play in tournaments that do not allow pros to play? That would make you one of the favorites, right? Same situation, different day.

I wish you luck.

Dave

On that same note, you could always talk about the Pros who ALWAYS seem to cash/win, who pay the same entry fee as Open players who barely ever do.

And that's my feeling is that having staged entry fees is generally to the advantage of better players.

Lesser players get money odds, but I doubt anyone like say Bartrum would mind giving a B/C/D player 2 to 1 on their money playing all day long everyday for the rest of his life.

I think for tournaments like the US Open, there should be a standard entry fee because it's more about who's the best, not about giving people the opportunity to join in the fun by lowering the fees.

If you want to hear a grown man cry let him pay $115 and get knocked out of a tournament by a guy that paid $40.

Worrying about $15 seems silly to me if you're still paying $100 to get in.

Since an A+ pays $75 dollars for a regular event, and an Open/Pro pays $100, maybe they should drop the Open class' entry fee to $85 and leave the Pro's at $100.

That way, it's not costing anyone anything extra.

Not the money, but the principle!!

Thank you very much Fellow A Z er's, there was alot of both positive and negative feedback on this subject, which i found very helpful, then there are some that have no idea what i am saying, but i have been playing pool for the last 23 years and love the game to death and have decided to play in these tourny's and '' MAN UP '' for 15.00, LOL! GMAC thanks for the helpful thoughts, i can only become a better player and happier player if i compete with the best, and that's what i intend to do, i know i have and have been blessed with alot of natural ability, and will use it to the best of my ability, SUPERSTAR, thank you, you seem to be on the same wave length as i and appreciate your feedback, and i REALLY don't mind the negitivity in this thread, it will make me a better person and FOCUS on the task at hand, FOCUS is all i think that i am missing from my game, and this will be the biggest help in my road to Success! Glad to hear your playin again! Good news. Sometimes we do tend to let our principles or beliefs get in the way. It will work itself out eventually.Main thing is you should do what makes you happy.

If you win the next predator event, I think gmac should get a jelly roll!

Good luck bobby. I still go to two! 7-2!

Man up?

Nice to know it took 23 yrs for you to man up, no stopping you now....Did you get my PM?..Jeff

If the shoe fit

Here is my $0.02

Bobby, would you enter a tournament paying $300 if the pro had to pay $375? is that your point? is that what you are standing for? well my guess is NO. So if you op for a $100 - $115 instead of $85 - $100, then I have no clue what you are getting at. Dont get me wrong I do understand the topic at hand and would only give applause to a select few posters who addressed this topic in a just manner.

Next, what is the difference drawing SVB in the first round as appose to Archer in the last game before the money? is it that (1) people are afraid to play the pro (2) afraid to play the pro early or (3) worried about not coming in the money. Now I seriously don't want to go to far with this (so please don't take it out of context) BUT, what on earth have you been doing for the past 23 years that you should care NOW about $15 on an entry fee "or any miniscule amount as long as it's different from what I see" that you would opp to sit out on a tourny, someone help me out here.

I would just like to know (from the pros if applicable) How big would the field be and how many of you would enter if there was a pro tourny that was let's say $20,000 entry fee? anyone care to tell

And last, to all you self proclaimed, I don't care what the fee is I just want to play, let the scrubs play so that I can make some back, ARE YOU FORGETTING WHEN YOU WERE "THAT GUY" AND YOU WANTED THE SPOT AND GAME ON THE WIRE. Gesh give me a break, you want to know what pool is the only sport where you get punished for being better? it's because it's the only sport that turns a good man wanting to have a skill in a unique sport into a PROSTITUTE you would F@(& anyone for some cash. I'm out

Bobby: Nice topic, upcoming player need a break
Others: Round of applause standing ovation for addressing a topic in a unbiased manner.

P.S.
everone's got the "7forlife" lol

good stuff bobby

I am glad to hear you are going to start playing in events again! you have a ton of ability. Start using it and start beating up on the pro's and opens.

I think your original point is very valid, but excluding yourself from events isn't worth it. Play the game you love.

You know i have a lot of respect for you and your game, just get out there and play!
