I think it would be fantastic if the greatest "multi-discipline" event of the year would help lead the 10-Ball Revolution!

I do think that 10 ball will weed out some of the luck portion of 9 Ball. I have even seen some tournys that eliminate the combination shots or give more points for running out over combos. All this adds up to better skill levels in pool in the future. I think 9 Ball is headed for the Bar Box leagues and 10 Ball for the Professional tournys in the near future.

they could start out offering both 10 ball and 9 ball with only 256 players allowed for each, or else you can enter one or the other only. The DCC is the perfect place to start this.
I sure we would have a lot of 'Breaking 10 ball' threads after that .... lol
and I do not agree that running out takes more skill than a combo does. It depends on the combo, and it depends on the table loayout for the run.
A lot of runs I could do in my sleep, since they are connect the dot, or natural angles for shape. I think a player would give himself a pat on the back for that hard combo he made before an automatic out that he made.

The Florida Tour is all 10 Ball now 
10 Ball is a lot harder to break than 9 Ball (or atleast it is for me and I break harder than Sigel). I have used 10 Ball as a practice game since the early 80's and now that's all I play 90% of the time. When I do play 9 Ball I look for the 10 a lot of times after shooting the 9 (not looking at the 9 Ball as the $ takes a little edge off of you).

I wouldn't mind a switch to 10 ball. It would negate the power breakers that peel off disgusting packages which in a race to 7 are brutal, but if it HAS to be 9 ball, why not go back to the old style.
Make it 2 fould ball in hand like back in the day, with the express rule of a ball in hand with a scratch on the break, with nothing spotting up.
I have always felt that this was the proper way to play 9 ball, and feel that the better player will win the majority of the time with this format.
It eliminates the saftey game, and makes it more of a game of skill in an aggressive fashion (shotmaking becoming key, so when hooked, i push out to a shot i know i have a good chance to make, but you might have difficulty with)
At least with those rules, if you get a BIG TIME BAD ROLL, you have an opportunity to deal with it in an intelligent skillful fashion, instead of just having to settle for a losing proposition

In case you guys missed this in the main forum....
Greg doesn't like to type so he doesn't post too much but he does read the forums regularly and enjoys reading everyone's ideas to make the tournament bigger and better. I'm going to start posting a few things in the very near future that Greg wants our opinion on. The first set of posts will be about naming the new awards.
