as you may or may not know i recently sold a couple of cues on here. 1 of them was a carolina cues propeller cue. now please bear in mind that i never hit a ball with this cue since i bought it here on az. in fact i still have several cues i hav e bought and never hit a ball with them. anyway, back to my problem. the buyer loves the cue and soon realized that you could feel the points. she called CC and talked with them. they told her that it would cost her $75.00 to try to correct the problem. I offered to take the cue back. but she really likes the cue. So i told her i would pay for the refinish and her shipping cost as part of my guarantee..........now my question, should CC stand behind their product and fix the problem with out charging this person. i have had this happen to other cues i have had from other makers and they always corrected the problem free of charge. even a couple of years later. What do you think????...any response will be appreciated...........mike

Regardless of the Carolina Cues stance, if you offered a guarantee, it should take precedent over any other promise. The buyer made a deal with you, not Carolina Cues.

I don't think the issue is this person not wanting to re-imburse the purchaser for the cost of having the item repaired, but rather should the customer be charged at all for this type of repair.

I guess it comes down to each companies policies. As Wjpjr said, maybe try calling Troy to see if they could simply do it as part of customer service.

Usually guarantee should be only to the original owner. If the cue has changed hands, then than is out of pocket.

Sorry if this presses the wrong button but I think Carolina makes so many cues they may not really worry about repeat business. Other, less well-off, cue makers may be severely effected if they do not stand by their product and word gets out.

Carolina cues does stand behind their cues, but no one can be expected to stand behind cues forever, there is no way to know if the cue was left in the trunk or mistreated in some way.In addition whatever warranty might apply to the original owner usually doesn't apply on down the line.

many cuemakers warranty expires when the cue is chalked, wood is wood and no one can guarantee changes like that, they say
Having said that many of the great cue makers, under no stated or implied warranty have been know to fix almost any defect in one of their cues, especially to polite customers who ask in the right way.
In the absence of a written waranty,I suggest not discussing these matters in a public forum, someone might get the idea that these cues are inferior or that they don't do the right thing,AND I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT NEITHER OF THESE APPLY TO CAROLINA CUES>

THEY ARE STANDUP PEOPLE AND QUALITY CUES

A problem like that says it is a finish issue to me.

I had a Schon that I had to send back to the factory after I had it a year. I felt the points a little. Called Evan. He said send it back and they will fix it no charge.

Carolina should stand behind their finish work.

Whether you are the first owner or not, the finish should pretty much last a lifetime, at least a decade.

not knocking them

just to clarify. i am not knocking them or their work. i have 2 other cues from them and am very happy with them. I only issued my guarantee for what ever it costs this person to fix it. i will call troy and see what happens. thanks for all the replies.............................mike
