Opinions of Pool/Billiards as a Profession

Sorry pal, no one thought I had the best of it going in against Lou. Stepping up to play a tough game is the type of action that someone that the hustling thief you claim to be would never do.

The tale of the tape in the match is perfectly clear. If I was being coached then it had to have been the worst coaching on the planet. It's not a matter of not being able to execute the shots it is that I took shots that NO TOP ONE POCKET PLAYER takes WHILE supposedly being coached.

Dennis Spears is a man that plays Allen Hopkins to a draw in one hole. So if he was coaching me then I would have easily beaten Lou.

EASILY.

And if you think otherwise you can just let Dennis coach me and we can play the same way for $20,000.

If you knew Dennis, which you don't, then you would know that he is extremely hard to understand. The way he talks makes it very difficult to understand him unless you know him very well. So to think that he could coach me in the seconds between Lou finishing his shot and me shooting is ridiculous.

Several polls were conducted on this site -- they all showed that a significant majority thought you were the favorite.

You were being coached -- you couldn't execute.

Who out there knows someone that is using Pool as a profession?

Relying on this sport/recreational hobby 75% or more for their main income?

I know everyone has a different standard of living but at what point does one become delusional that they can survive doing this? The heyday's of the 70' and 80's are over, now I can't even imagine that the top 5 pros can survive with all the traveling costs that are involved. How about health insurance (let's leave Obamacare out of this for now)?

I'm baffled at who would make such a decision to put aside a paying gig for being broke.

Comments/Thoughts?

i bet on certain AZers' posts.... and thanks to this thread, i'm thinking of quitting my day job!

You're out of your mind. Polls don't mean anything when most of the people voting have no clue how either of us played.

Like I said Lou, the video tells the tale. I played the same from beginning to end, made some good shots and sold out others. The ONLY difference is that when my adrenaline came down I was able to slow down and play with a little more patience.

But if you think I can't execute when being coached tell LIesomemore that he can bet it all and let Dennis coach me. You will be lucky to EVER win a game.

Tell me when you guys have the money ready and I will arrange for me and Dennis to come to St. Louis.

You obviously haven't watched the match. Anyone who watches the match will conclude that if Dennis was coaching me then you were paying him to.

And, you're right, the whole 10k wasn't mine.

Someone with more heart in her toenails clippings than you ever had or will have asked me if she could have $100 of the action

The other brave soul wanted $500 of the action

The other 9600 was all mine.

Come on don't be shy. Easy pick'ns for big bad "john" that didn't have $9600 of his own money in the bet with Lou either.

Hu

And as for my $9600 just who do you think would have gone in with me?

When I played Lou I put up more than I had played for in my life. All but $600 of it my own cash. $9600 on the light.

No offense but if you guys want me to keep being entertained by this thread then you both, at the least, need to get your numbers correct.:D

imaginary place?

And Wolfie, stop living vicariously through Lou. He stepped up and you are still changing your Depends at the thought of stepping up.

The only question is whether you want to be next on the Dance Card. I think not given that you are a "two-bit" hustler. What is two bits anyway? Maybe you're just a one bit hustler.

Anyway, you aren't going to play, you aren't going to provide your address so why are you still flapping your gums?

Once again, you and me at Lacey's for $5000.

Where is this Lacey's of which you speak? Never heard of it. Don't care either, I don't chase cheaters to play.

You sure get mighty busy with a keyboard when some truth comes out! You epitomized a cheap hustler with the moves you pulled on Lou. It just didn't work because you still had to do something, anything, on the table!

You can't spell for crap, you can't make rational posts, and your math makes me hope you wait on my table next time I'm in a cheap café where I would expect to find you bussing tables and passing out ptomaine. $9600 and $600 equals what? Most of us had that covered in the second grade, good ol' 'rithmatic that made a fella sick! You can't even lie convincingly.

Everyone knows you are as fouled up as a soup sandwich and now trying to lie and dissemble in seven different directions. You didn't play Lou a fair game and you won't play me or anyone else a fair game if you can figure any way to gain an unfair advantage. You can't use these methods and then claim to have beaten anyone in a fair encounter. Well, you can and will if you ever find a blind child under six you might beat if you cheat enough but everyone will know you are full of shit as usual!

C'mon Tonto, our job is done here! I'm riding away laughing the whole time. john has been confirmed a "john barton" once again!

Seeya next time you want to make a fool out of yourself.

Hu

Carry on, and on, and on, and on, and on . . . you are cheap entertainment!

you ready to play or not? you're certainly afraid of court but that's alright because I already know what I need to do there.

the only question is whether I will get your money from the judgment or the pool table or both. I think no way on the table because you are scared to play for more than five dollars.

but you can surprise me and post the money and make a date.

the court date will be made for you.

You said, “Sorry pal, no one thought I had the best of it going in against Lou.”

My point was that that was a lie, as proven by the polls I mentioned.

About the adrenaline… don’t know ‘bout any of that. What it looked like to me was a big, huge, ugly load of bad karma coming down on you all at once: it was you having to finally play someone who you’d insulted nonstop for five months; who you said wouldn’t even have the cojones to show up; you wearing that stupid, ill-fitting C&C t-shirt in the belief that that would get under my skin; your ignorant woofing at Eric and goading him to the point you almost came to blows right before the match; seeing Mike ringside as my money man after all the crap you pulled on him; and, oh yes, the reality of all those cameras documenting your play and use of your wondrous aiming system.

Lastly, you are one twisted, sick, little puppy if you believe that, somehow, my playing you again while you get coached would prove anything about past events. I didn’t like when you got coached in NJ and I definitely will not tolerate it in the future.

no it was poor planning. what crap did I pull on liesomemore?

answer, none.

As for being coached, again, the video shows that IF I was being coached then I had THE WORLD's WORST COACH.

Why? Well for one thing the shot you THOUGHT was a grade high level shot was actually a shot that, to a man, on the ONE POCKET.ORG forum thought was the worst possible shot and nothing like a really good one pocket player would play. So screw your accusations. The fact is you simply didn't have the firepower to keep me down EVEN when I was playing like crap. We played 15 games and in NONE of those games did I play good. None of them. In all of them I took flyers just about every chance I got the tiniest look at them. So save it. You just want to have an excuse for why you couldn't blow me off the table and the flat fact of it is, you aren't good enough to do that. I played my worst game possible and it took you nine hours to get three games ahead.

I will amend my statement.....no one who knows how we both play thought I was the favorite.

doesn't matter.

as for karma maybe so but not for anything I ever did or said to or about you or that sorry excuse for waste of carbon Mike LaLumiere. really the reason I lost was simply poor preparation and poor planning.

As for crying over being insulted leading up to the match, suck it up and don't act like a crybaby, when you THOUGHT you were going to earn some money getting a part of a PPV you were right there with the "insults" as well ready to step and do your part to hype up the match. The fact is I did everything to accommodate you except budge on either of us getting paid to play other then what we could win and insist that it be streamed. You went out of your way to block things all the way up to the match.

As for Cue and Cushion, they were very nice to me and I promised to wear their shirt and I did. As I told you before I would be very sad if I were barred from such a nice and wonderful room full of pool history. Obviously it did bother you and does bother you that you are not allowed in that room. Stories of "Lou is Lou" abound all around your area. Here is a tip for you, YOU are the problem. You're tolerated now wherever you go but I am pretty sure your business would not be missed.

When we play again, if you have the backing and the balls, then things will different because now I know what I did wrong in the preparation and planning. Not a big deal, I simply overestimated my ability to step up and play after five grueling days exhibiting at the Super Billiards Expo, that coming off almost non-stop traveling for two months, and I was a mental wreck even before I saw that it was LIesomemore backing you. And I shouldn't have engaged the Senior Citizen Slugger right before the match - I really didn't think he would threaten me with a pool ball - but I did and that of course spiked the adrenaline going right into it.

You sold out a couple shots into the match and I flat out dogged it. Fact is you're not as good as you think you are. And I am worse than I have ever been.

A week before the match I told Joey down in New Orleans that I didn't feel ready. I was seriously considering calling it off and I probably should have and just let you have the 3k. But I stepped up to give it what I had in the tank. Took a hell of a lot more for me to step up and play than it did for you. You want to play the victim even now but the fact is that you have been a major instigator and denigrator of me and anyone else who espouses aiming systems for more than 12 years. You're a bully online. Period.

Mike Lalumiere is an even bigger bully and an asshole. You all got the money this time but so what? You're not a victim Lou, you're a person who fabricates stories to fit your narrative and lots of people know that about you. LOTS OF PEOPLE.

I talked to people who worked with you in Air Force, people who have been around you in the pool rooms, people who have gambled with you, people who tried to gamble with you.

NO ONE LIKES YOU out of those people. The only ones who seem to like you are the ones you are polite to when you're traveling. Otherwise people AROUND YOU can't stand you. So that's why I wore the Cue and Cushion shirt, to remind you that in your hometown there is a beautiful old room run by great folks who are incredibly happy to never have to hear your whining again.

Rhea was using Pool, or playing Pool as a profession. Wonder what the latest chapter in her success story is?

1. Work to find a day job, while you are looking learn to play pool
2.It may take a long time to land just a job...time enough to make some scratch and learn more.
3.Above all do not get depressed as your pool ability should be giving yourself more more personal confidence, and at worse you are laying employment tracks with your first $8/hr gig.
4.At some point someone will ask this of you on a torney weekend "we really need you to work THIS weekend...{.well I think you know where this is going....hope you find a job soon !! all the best elvis

And Lou, my "wondrous" aiming system worked great when I was clam enough to stroke straight. But when you stroke like a monkey on speed no aiming system is going to help. The aiming system put me on the shot line and my stroke sent the ball off of it.

If you think the system doesn't work then get Liesomemore to put you in the box against Stan.

What's that?

Silence.

Or you can play Joey.

I will bet every possible dollar I can scrape up if you want to play either one of them.

Does Liesomemore want a part of that? Of course he doesn't. You cry like a baby acting hurt because of some pre-match barking when you barked for YEARS prior.

I will see you again and you will back down. In your heart you're a coward. As much as a waste of a human skin that Mike Lalumiere is HE is the one who actually had some balls here. Everyone who knows you knows you wouldn't have played on your own money ever.

in the two times we played we have played 18 games of one hole against each other. You won 10 of them and I won 8.

So if you think that being plus 2 games against a casemaker who barely plays makes you a superhero then good for you. When I come for you again I will offer to play you a 10 ahead match for more money. Then we will see what you say when that day comes.

And part of my stake is going to come from your new puppet Hu Lowery. Puppet or puppy? Either way he does your bidding. He doesn't think that I will sue him. He will find out soon enough that the same guy who is willing to stand up to you and your bully friends is the same one with conviction enough to file a lawsuit.

lol. How's that quote from “The Hustler” go:

“This game isn’t like football. Nobody pays you for yardage ...you keep score real simple. The end of the game you count up your money. That’s how you find out who’s best. That’s the only way.”

Lou,

you won. It's all good. You didn't blow me out. I know why I lost and it wasn't because you outplayed me, it was because I gave you the match. That's all there is too it.

Now, you can follow me around all these threads all you want and keep crowing about it if that's what you want to do. Can't stop you. I am sure at this point in your life beating me is the best thing you have ever done. it's certainly the most money you ever made in pool all $2000 of it.

I hope your backer threw you a tip because no matter what you stayed calm and played a steady if mundane game. you did good. It would have been ueber embarrassing if you had lost to me as badly as I played.

For me it's over and I am looking for the next opportunity to play you. You will probably duck me for the rest of your life but in case you don't, we will see how the next one goes.

Now, back to watching real players play, people who do make a living playing.

Next time... there will be no coaching ;-)

Yes, Asianevil it is possible. I have met a few pool room owners that made money in the great depression when their were lots of pool players and little money . The secret is the Kelly criterion. You must understand money management.
