Opinions on jump cues...

can i get DETAILED opinions on what the best jump cue on the market is currently. i dont want to buy one of these jump systems that looks like a vacuum cleaner with 10-15 attachments, just a two or three piece jump cue. thanks!

If you are looking for a jump cue there is a couple of options. The Bunjee jump cue and the Stealth Air Time jump cue. The Bunjee might jump just a little easier but the Stealth is a little more accurate and you can use better english with the stealth. All other phenolic tip jump cues jump easy but you lose alot in accuracy. I use both the Bunjee and the Stealth. You should forget about all break/jump cues. You cant get the best of both worlds with these. Hope this helps you. Larry Nevel
 
I think the best thing to do is to try different types...there are the two and three piece jump &/or break cues and they both play differently...but until you really learn how to use the jump cue, who knows how you'll be hitting with it. Practice, get a feel, then I recommend a frog or a Palmer, which is what I jump with. Yes, Bungee tip is great.
 
One jump cue you should look into is made by Alex Brick in Nashville. He works out of JOB Billiards. He is making a jump/break cue out of Diamond wood using a G10 tip/ferrule combination. The weight of the diamond wood is very heavy, just the jump portion of the handle along with the shaft is 11.9oz on the one I picked up (I don't use it to break with, just as a jump cue). It seems like you only have to drop the shaft through the cueball & it jumps. This is what I use when I break with my playing cue. I would call him & check it out.

I also use the x-breaker x347, which I use for breaking & jumping. Jumping with that puppy is also a dream. I would also check out Richard's latest jump cue made out of ash. I have heard good things about it but have not seen one yet.

Bunjee is always a good choice.

Jack Kompan of Mystick Cues out of San Antonio makes, IMO, about best jump cue around and I have tried most of them.

As I stated in another post, when I was in Vegas a few weeks ago, during one match, I made a few jump shots with one being a very tight off angle shot. After the match, three people can up and asked me how they could get their hands on one.

It's called a "Jumping Jack". It has a purple heart shaft with a G10 glass ferrule and tip.

Jack is a good guy, easy to deal with and stands 100% behind his product. Give him a call @ (210) 404-9852. I think you won't be dissappointed.

Jump cues

IMHO, The new X-Jumper is the best for lift and accuracy. The new X2 tip on it is 79,000 psi, which is twice as hard as phenolic, but has leather in it to give great control.

I would be extremely interested in getting Larry Nevel's opinion (InCanada9) after trying one.
 
i've heard the lucasi jump cue is a good value for the price

also, predator is coming out with a jump cue pretty soon

I love my Lucasi jump cue. Before that I had an Axiom jump and that actually was a great cue for the money.

With my Lucasi, I feel like I get really good lift, and it's almost effortless too. This makes things much much easier, when you can focus more on accuracy and such rather than getting the ball off the table. I am nowhere near a tall person (I am about 5'9" on a good day) and I feel that comfort is key with a jump cue. I am not able to get really good leverage over a ball, so it's important for me to be able to get lift without elevating my cue so high that it is uncomfortable for me.

I have had or tried a number over the last several years. I am not a great short range jumper. I kick a lot. I do use my jump cue for what I call a reasonable jump. I used to use a Bunjee cue and it was good. Then I had a Lucassi. It was better. Locally some players love the new lightning bolt jump/break. It does a great job on the short range shots but I feel the control is low. One other player has a Terminator and he can jump nearly anything with it. Now my personal favourite and current jump cue....I bought a custom cue from DB Custom Cues. It is made from a Predator 314-5 forearm to match my playing cue. I have a 30" shaft which Don custom makes for each jump cue. It has a phenolic tip/ferrule and it is by far the best I have played with. It not only does the part, but becomes more identifiable as mine as it matches my cue. Don has a number of available styles, mostly Predator, and you will probably be able to find one to match or closely resemble your current playing cue. So far there have been 3 players to also purchase one and I guarantee when the leagues and tourneys start up again there will be many more sales made. Even the guy with the Terminator wants to buy one!

Don is a great guy to deal with and the hit is awesome!

I have a jump cue with a brushed or sanded phenolic tip. My tip profile is similar to a half dollar to a dollar in radius. My Jump Cue is app'x 47" in length.

The lighter the better.

Jumpin Jack

Thanks to both Stones and John Barton for their kind words about Jumpin Jack. No one cue is right for every player but for being less than one year old Jumpin Jack has done a pretty good job of carving out a niche.

For those lucky enough to live within striking distance of Odessas, TX the Fast Eddie's Tour stops there June 9-10. Mystick Cues will be in attendance and anyone interested can try both the Jumpin Jack, the Ball Buster or any other Mystick cueuntil their hearts content. My web site is a work in progress. Jumpin Jack is one of the new additions. The cost is $115. A little high for a jump stick. However, Jumpin Jack has a 30" purple heart shaft with a three-cushion billiard taper. The farrel/tip is g10 glass mounted on a stainless steel pin. Over all length is 42". The kick on this thing really is amazing. If you don't think it's the best you can get send it back. No questions asked. You'll only be out the return postage.

The jump cue is only 6-months old but I've never had one returned yet and they're being used by some of the top players in Texas.

Actually I'm locaterd in San Antonio. We were only in Odessa to support the FAst Eddie Tour stop and introduce Jumpin Jack. Sold every one we had with us, four in the last 20 minutes. Thanks for the interest...jack:) :)
 
Predator makes a new jump cue Fiberglass if I remember correctly Larry Nevel hade a good time with it at the Hopkins expo. check it out
