Ill pick Nitti in every category. I think Niti does far superior work and his points and inlays are cleaner.

Nitti - Superior to Gilbert

I couldn't agree more.

I've owned both and, IMO, Nitti is far superior to a Gilbert in the quality of worksmanship. Examine a Nitti and compare the two before laying down your dollars.

FWIW.

If money was no object, I'd get the highest level Nitti.

All Chris says about the one he's making for me is "bling, bling".......... I wonder if he doesn't mean "ching, ching" like a ca$h register (j/k) ;)

It is an ivory monster though............

NIIIIIITTTTTIIIIIIIIII!!!!!
:D

Gonna get me a nice custom started soon if I can't find something around now....

They are both nice.

And if you buy one worried about resale you should do yourself a favor and don't buy. Cues you want to keep are the best buy. Buy a Nitty to keep. Buy a Gilbert to keep. Sounds crazy coming from me?
If you can only buy one Cue get something to keep and wear it out. Resale is over rated.
Nick :)

This thread was started in 2006. Just saying.

But since you dug it up... which one has proved to be a better value six years later?

Wow, I just saw that. Ugh.....

i had 2 nitti cues
both played very good

honestly i am surprised to see you open this comparison
i don't think it is a good idea

it certainly is not doing the cue makers a favor

if a house cue taper is what andy uses'
i think i would like his cues as well
because that is something that i like

i hope these comparisons of 2 great cue makers stops here

cuemakers have enough problems without inviting knocks
especially when most people don;t really know enough to judge

i know i don't

LOL I think somebody should buy my Gilbert and form their own opinions!! LOL

This is a hard call to make. Each cue is unique and great cues. You also have such varience from cue to cue from the same maker. The only way to compair the two and be objective is to have access to 5 cues or more from each builder, have 5-10 people try every cue and rate each against a quality standard. I am not sure what this would prove anyways, personaly, I like both cues. Each have pros and cons and these are different from cue to cue and person to person.

Dean...I don't remember what was going on back in 2006 that caused this line to be raised. I have personally owned several from both of these two cuemakers since that timeframe.

Both of these guys build marvelous cues. I have not had any personal dealings direct with Andy Gilbert, but I know several people who have, and it was all good. I have had personal dealings with Chris Nitti, and I could not ask for a better person to deal with. Some of you may remember the $3500 Nitti cue that was delivered by the post office to me, broken in half. Chris was fantastic to deal with.

Anyone looking for a high quality playing cue and investment will be very well served with either of these guys cues.

i am sensitive to the reputation of cue makers
as i know you are

i have found you to be a great person to buy from on more than 1 occasion
