Orchid cue info, please

I’ve searched the ‘net but could not find any info. Anyone know anything about this Orchid?

Here’s what I know:

The butt weighs 14.6oz. Shaft 4.4, total 19.

6-point.

5/16x18 joint.

Questions:
What model is it?
Are these inlays or decals?
Where was it made?
I bought it from a good pool buddy for $50. Good or great deal? 😀

As far as I know all Orchid cues are foreign made. The 5/16X18 pin probably dates it to the 90’s. I believe they are real inlays. Nice looking cue and I would say worth the $50

I had one like this. Decent asian cue. real veneers/inlays. iirc Orchid was owned by ErnieChen of Falcon/KPS. Worth more than 50bux, i'd put it at 125/150 ish.
Correct on the origin.

@dquarasr

I have 2 or 3 of these, but not this model.

I put it closer to $200 in today's market based on condition and being a higher level model.

There were some made for Asian markers, some for European, and some for US. Some similar overlapping, but some exclusive to a market.

This is definitely one of the nicer I have seen but could have been anywhere from 1990s to more recent, like 10 or 15 years old.

Definitely real points, veneers, inlays, and rings.

I have Orchid catalogs, I'll see if I can find it in one later. Maybe, maybe not.

Nice cue.

Thanks for the info!

I definitely feel as though I need to give my friend some more $ for it! I mean, $50 for that cue…

It looks as nice in person as it does in the photos. I’m going to use it as my player for league. I really like it. It’s compatible with my Adam cues so all shafts including my CF are interchangeable. Great score for me.

No need to burden yourself. I'll take it off your hands for $65 because I'm a nice guy.

$15 profit can almost get you a value meal at McDonald's. Think about it...you could eat like the President.

Edit: Heading back to my office to look at catalogs. Thanks for the reminder.

So, I found the closes I could, but it's not the same. The one I found was sold in the European market, but I don't have a date. The B-22. It was from the "Orchid Red Pro Series". I believe sold in Germany. The dashed rings were slightly different and the B-22 was marked on the forearm.

Also marked 101.7022 in this catalog.

This next one appears to be a B-22 as well but is noted as "Mod #1" in this undated catalog.

Sorry, closest I could get.

That’s awesome! Yeah, pretty close. Thanks much for your time to look this up!

I assume that with the many models, it’s likely that there may be slight variations over time for a particular model and individual cues may not exactly match the catalog. Is that right?

Is it also possible that the catalog photos are from very early runs, or maybe even prototype designs and the final production versions differ from the intended designs as depicted in the catalog?

Yup. All kinds of possibilities.

The European and Asian cues tend to have more logos on them. I guess that's what people like in those markets?

Asian market Adam cues often have all kind of crap stamped or printed on them for example.

I'm tempted to say that's actually the model, without the additional logos and slightly different rings, as sold in the North American market.

Speculation.
