Orcullo's cue....??

I never heard of Universal cue brand. Is that a new company? Is it the same as Stroud's Universal Smart Shaft from a decade or two ago?

I remember a story from W. W. Woody's book on Buddy Hall ("Rags to Rifleman"). The year was around 1990 plus or minus one or two. Buddy won a tournament somewhere and a spectator offered him a too-good-to-refuse price for his cue. Buddy sold it. Soon thereafter, Buddy was to play a series of tournaments on the Florida tour. He still didn't own a cue. So what he did was buy a new cue at the start of each tournament and then auction it off after the tournament. He won something like seven tournaments in a row doing this.

[Repeated from about 9 years ago.]
I've seen the Legend Scotty Townsend do this in person. Walk into a tournament without a cue, buy one at the hall, then proceed to wreck the field!

I believe "Earthquake" showed up for a big tourney without a cue and Jay Helfert loaned him one and, yes, he won...

Jay might confirm.

Universal is Hamson internationals`s own brand. It`s the same company that makes Predator, Lucasi, Dufferin, Riley and many other brands. They state on their website that they make millions of cues.
You can find a short summary here:

I have yet to see their cues up close, but I guess their at about the same quality as the other brands they make.

Some pretty current info....Dennis changes cues like some people change their socks.

Not to be rude, but is he gambeling away his cues, or is he just one of those players that needs to change equipment all the time?
