No, Amsterdam Billiards' history begins in 1989 at Amsterdam Avenue and 77th Street. For a stretch, they had a second location on the east side of Manhattan (86th and 3rd) but it closed in 2004. In 2006, Amsterdam Billiards was evicted from its original location because of a demolition notice and moved to its current location at 11th street and 4th avenue (former location of Corner Billiards).

I just did a little research on this photo. This isn't New York City. This is Amsterdam, NY. That's a city northwest of Albany, NY.

That entire block has been gone for quite a while now.

BUT upstairs might have been Frank Taberski's place, or where he played.

He also had alot going on in Schenectady NY down the road.

BTW there is a nice room in Amsterdam NY called Sharpshooters.

Equipped with 7 and 9 ft diamonds, full bar and nice menu.

They are on facebook, search sharpshootersbilliards.
