O'Sullivan On Why He Quit Match With Hendry

He was down 4-1, and he knows how well Hendry was playing.

If he knew he just didn't have it that day, then what is the point in playing the other 5 games if he knew on that day he would lose?

If he is payed a salary then I can understand the "paying fans" angle, but if this was a tournament based on tournament winnings, and there is nothing about conceding early, then I dont see anything wrong with this.

What is everyone whining about, why does conceding a match when you know you can't win bad for snooker at all?

I seems amusing so many people are getting apparently upset over this... all he did was concede, what is the big deal????

the big deal was that there were at least 5 frames left, the match was entirely winnable for him and he showed an astounding lack of class. Snooker is generally regarded as the showcase of class in the cuesport world and there shouldn't be room for poor sportsmanship.

O'Sullivan has won a good number of extremely well paying tournaments, he owes the sport and the fans more class than what he showed.

Thank you, that is what I am saying. Get a box of tissues and get over it.

Obviously it was unprofessional, but it was much more professional than throwing his pool cue or balls, screaming profanities, kicking over trash cans, etc.... I've seen it all, and honestly, I rather they just concede and get some rest. You guys act like he was punching babies or something!

unless your ill, forces of nature, or a death in family...theres never a good reason to just off and quit a match

players doing that should be severely penalized

This post reminds me of the time Earl walked out during the Finals of a Camel Tour event in Milwaukee. He didn't like the way Scott was racking the balls. Puhleze! And the score was close to being tied, early in the match. The arena was packed too with about 500 people who paid to see the match.

When the honchos at R.J. Reynolds saw that, it was the beginning of the end for Camel's sponsorship in Pool. I lost a lot of respect for Earl that day.
