Out of the closet???

Hello All,

Recently a road hustler came to town. He is GREATLY skilled and I enjoyed watching him play, I admired and respected his game...however then the moves started! I know talking sh*t is part of pool and that is one thing...IMO it is quite another to start manipulating the racks, claiming "good hits", "accidentally" bumping balls to reposition them, and STALL,STALL,STALL...the worst example of this is during a 5 ahead match his opponent gets to 4, and suddenly he's "starving, I have to eat right now!!", then he leaves for 45 minutes and comes back to finish the set?? WTF! (this pool hall serves really good food, delivered right to your table!)

Like I said, I enjoyed watching him play, but after all the BS started all it did was piss me off...IMO that is part of what has kept pool in the mud for so many years, all the "shady" activities attributed to billiards....

So I got on my FB group for local players and posted what this guy looked like and what you could expect if you played him...I have gotten mixed reviews by this :)

Some think its great that I warned them and others think it was a sh*tty thing for me to do..."Killing his action!"

I have never been a hustler and dont like them...I would much rather play the guy that comes in and says he's KING KONG...let's play! And if he beat everybody I would never have posted a thing...but with all teh BS I felt like he was fair game...

I want your guys opinion....

4 behind going to 5?!

Who the fuuk lets that guy leave? Only shot he should have at leaving is if he pro-rates and pays off the 4 games.

If he posted, I take the 4 pro-rated and then if he comes back, I tell him I am hungry now too.

I know right!! It was the craziest thing i ever saw...

I know who you're talking about. He came into town, started cleaning everybody's clock, and now you're all pissed about it.
If he got to you, get over it and move on. If not, sit back and enjoy the show. :)

For sure. I love the part about being hungry too. I play in a non-smoking room. I was playing a guy a pretty big set one night. Every time I broke and ran a rack, he would put his cue on the table and go smoke. I got the money but it took twice as long as it should have. :grin-square:

I don't see anything wrong with what you did.

If he's good enough to win without the moves, then he deserves to win.

If he doesn't feel that he's good enough to with without the moves (and he obviously doesn't), then people deserve to know what they will have to put up with.

You didn't kill his action... if he shoots well, has cash and is looking for a game... he will find one.

I don't consider cheating to win "action", so you shouldn't worry about knocking whatever it is.

People telling you that you are knocking some hustler's action probably think of themselves as hustlers too and would pull the same crap on the table.

Matching up well is one thing, but if someone has to do anything besides bring their A game to win, I don't think they or their action are owed any consideration.

Tramp, I appreciate the invite but I think I would as soon watch paint dry as play one-hole. :D And I choke in clean air.

What's the deal on Scott, the new bar, and the snooker table? Is that going to happen or has it fallen by the wayside?

Pro-rate? Hell, I'd think that's a forfeit.

Who the heck lets their opponent leave when they're on the hill?

Screw him, if he's pulling lame stuff like that, I'd rather be warned a waste-of-time is in my area, I could care less if a hustler is.

I smoke, but I wait for between sets if my opponent doesn't smoke. I do have a couple of friends that will interrupt sets/games if I'm doing well to go smoke. It doesn't really bother me any more, because I know it's a defensive move and I just figure I'll get back to the whoopin when we're done.

I'm with you. This is the scum side of pool. Spread the word.

Its the age of the internet. Altho some may think that you were knocking the guys action for the future, Hustling isn't cheating and cheating isn't hustling. Its just being a Cheat.

If the guy was a straight up great player that had some lines and moves that didn't include cheating, then I would have said, let the guy be to move on to his next meal.

Players for the most part aren't stupid, they will see him for what he is in the next town.

That kind of action can get a guy hurt in the wrong town.
