Oversized production cues?

I just picked up a pristine McDermott D-9 that needs a little ferrule work, so I decided to check the diameter just below the ferrule. 14.18mm. I checked the top of the joint, .875. The butt cap is 1.30 I have a D-1 that is smaller all around. Whats the story?

Hi,

I am sure that those dimensions were not a mistake and that for some reason that model was redesigned to be a little fatter.

You should call them and ask the question directly.

On production line cues the tolerances are very closely held. I am sure there is a reason for your witnessed changes.

Must have been built for Big Foot.

I thought McD's fell around .840 to 1.250 plus minus a few thou b/c they run them through a belt sander before finishing.
