Pace of play in 14.1 leagues

I would like to hear ideas from 14.1 league players on how the pace of play is controlled in their league games. I thought of giving expectations of game duration on start of season. ie: 80 point match should not take more than 1.5 hrs normally, 100 point match shouldnt take more than 1.75 hrs normally, 120 point match should not take more than 2 hrs normally. There may be occasional exceptions...but they should be occassional.

I would appreciate your ideas.

In the few matches I've played in my local 14.1 league, races to 150 haven't taken more than 2.5 - 3.0 hours. Of course, it always depends on the skills of the players. For instance, I've seen a race to 100 take over 3 hours. I've also seen a race to 2, 9-ball on a bar box take over an hour!

time of matches

I think a 100 point match should take under 2 hours but sometimes I am disappointed.
One guy I play, we get done, even if both of us are near 100, in just a touch over one hour.

Another guy I play, we are lucky to get it done under 3 hours. It depends so much on the players experience and their pace.

I have seen 100 point matches go 5 hours.

Too Slow

I love 14.1, it is the game I grew up with and play whenever I practice. I quit playing in the league because 80% of the players play way too slowly. Pool is a rhythm game and it is beyond me how anyone can enjoy the game when thay take so long to shoot.

Thanks for your comments. For me, personally, it is very difficult to play extremely slow paced. I have been in a few matches (ahead in points) where I unscrewed my cue out of frustration with slow play by my opponent.

I dont play fast...just steady. I kept track of my last 10 100 point games on a spread sheet and came up these results (for what it is worth):

10 games, 5 differant opponents
Average combined score per game: 155.3
Balls scored per minute: 1.51
Average length of game in minutes: 103
