This old wall sign is mostly covered up by an Army and Navy wall sign. It looks like WWII uniforms, but I'm not sure. It is around the Skid Row area of downtown.

Anyone know about the Palace Bowling and Billiards on Main in Downtown Los Angeles? Any stories from our old timers?

Just a cool pic I thought I'd share here. :)

I haven't seen that before, but I work downtown and could swing by to check it out if I had an address.

That should be somewhere near 4th and Main. That is what "we" called the place back in the 60's and 70's, "4th and Main". It closed in the early 80's as I recall.

4th and Main is what most non-Latins called that place. Most hispanics called it El Ollo...The Hole. But I'm not sure that this is the place in question. I can't imagine where the bowling lanes would have been.

P.S. Jay. I just finished your book. Great reading.

Yeah, that room may go WAY back. I don't recall there being any bowling lanes at 4th & Main. There were pool tables and 4-5 billiard tables. At one time, downtown L.A. was a thriving metropolis.

You might ask over at onepocket.org. Henderson and some of the others might have heard of the old place.
