Palmer Special!

For all you Palmer lovers I have pics of a friends 70's palmer....I believe it is a full splice rosewood into maple with what appear to be titlist veneers and some MOP inlays in the points...what i would like to know is who did palmer get his blanks from back in those days??...is there any cue maker that would or could possibly restore this great cue??....and approximately how much would it cost....i also would like to know what kind of wrap he used...linen, nylon??....cue has originaly shaft that has a noticeable roll to it and the butt is still dead nuts straight....thank you so much for your time and enjoy!

Palmer restored

I would have to recommend Ryan of Rat cues for the job. He did a fantastic job restoring my Palmer. I think the cost would depend on the extent of work you want done. You can find him on here or through Meullers at: Meullers cue repair

From your Pictures of the cues points, I would have to say that the wood appears to be some type of Mahogany not Rosewood.

check out proficeint billiards..they do alot of repair on plamers they are quick and seam to have a good price...standard wrap was irish linen or dacron.... ps it is a model g from second cat.....

one more question....according to the palmer collector website...it says that model g in the 2nd catalog was based on a titlist blank......so weren't titlist blanks from that time made from rosewood?? just trying to get all my ducks in a row for my buddy as he prepares to spend the necessary money to have to cue fully restored..thanks!

I could be color blind, but that does not look like any Titlist blank I have ever seen, may be something else. Titlists were made for several different woods, Rosewood is not a given. I agree with Craig, this looks to be Mahogany.

point well taken....i am just trying to get down to the facts so i can give my friend the most accurate information on his cue....maybe the "based on a titlist blank" doesn't mean that a titlist blank was used to make the cue. thanks for all of you help guys!! i by no means is a titlist or palmer expert.

that maybe a titlest blank. its no titlist blank. ive only seen a few spain blanks built into palmers. adam spain who knows but i do know palmer couldnt make enough cues back then so... could be either
