Pardon my ignorance....

Well this Mosconi cup is sure getting plenty of hype on the AZ front page and to be honest with you I have no idea if this is going to be streamed, televised, or just something updated from time to time here on the forum.

Would someone please enlighten me as to when it is, and if it will be able to be viewed, and at the risk of really showing my ignorance, what game are they going to be playing?

I know .... I know ... all these years. Something tells me it's 9 ball and that's probably why I haven't really followed much news about it, but with Earl and Dennis playing, this may be entertaining even if it were duck pin bowling. :)

thanks in advance for the info.

It's 9 ball, a mix of singles and scotch doubles format. I'm gonna cheat and just copy/paste AtLarge's concise rundown:

AtLarge said:
This event is 9-ball racing to 11 matches, with each match being a race to 5 games. There is one team match (everyone plays one game), 7 doubles matches, and up to 13 singles matches.

The conditions for this event include the following: Diamond table, Simonis 860 cloth, Aramith balls, measles cue ball, jump cues allowed, referee racks with the 9-ball on the foot spot, alternate breaks, break from anywhere behind the line, illegal break (surrender the inning) unless at least three balls reach the head string or are pocketed, 30-sec. shot clock (60 sec. after the break), one 30-sec. extension per side per game, foul on all balls, and all slop counts.

Last year they streamed it and I could swear it was free, but might be I remember wrong
and you have to pay ~$15.00
The streaming site will be:

http://www.pool.livesport.tv/

It's really exciting to watch, even if 9b is not your thing!

There's been free stream for years, and there's been a # of sites doing so. You can also do it PPV. No worries, it's available.

Some sites have better quality than others. I've always tuned into AZ to give and receive feedback to which sites are the best, because what works on day 1 may not be the best choice the next day. It's kinda wierd...

All matches race to 5. The cut break is huge with the 3 balls past head string or pocketed rule. Two continents enter, one continent ends with happy ending.
