Parralax vision?

I have noticed a freaky little tendency while shooting lately. If I am sighting a ball down either long rail I will sometimes miss it badly?...BUT, If I align the shot with my Dom eye open and the other closed....then open both, but dont re-aim, or move....the ball falls?

with both open AFTER adjusting the shot looks horribly off aim....but goes like.....butta!


is Parralax vision to blame?.....I"m curious.

I think everyone has this issue to SOME degree. Some more/less than others. People naturally adjust. Learning how your eyes "see" is one of the best things I ever learned in pool. Everyone "sees" differently. Learn how you "see" and make the adjustment.

Perfect aim is good for this. So is JoeT's little 3rd eye with the HUD plastic plate (forget the name). Very, very good tool.

I'm not sure, but I think parallax has to do with focal point changes in long distance viewing. My guess is you are missing when you are not using your dominant eye during the shot.

How about straight in shots across the table? If you place the CB and the OB a few diamonds apart on a line from one corner pocket to the pocket in the opposite corner (e.g., "bottom left" to "top right"), can you follow the OB straight into the far corner pocket or draw the CB straight back into near corner pocket?

You might have someone check whether the cue is in the same position relative to your eyes when you are stroking near shots, far shots, shots along the rail, etc.
