Are there anymore partakers of the sport Billiards than any other sport, Does any sport have more viewers and players than pool ?
I kind of remember the BCA putting out numbers of pool players. Problem was, iirr they called you a pool player if you had played once in the last year.I know at one time, not all that long ago that more people have tried pool than any other game. I think basketball took that distinction now. It would be hard now to dig up that source of info now.
I think soccer and pool , world wide television, I don't think that any sport has had so many viewing and payed so little monies...I know at one time, not all that long ago that more people have tried pool than any other game. Pool & Billiards used to publish the numbers from a major survey. It may have been done by the National Sporting Goods Association. I think they did two levels of players -- once in the last year and once (or twice) per month. The survey info is pretty expensive. The survey has been discussed on these forums before.I kind of remember the BCA putting out numbers of pool players. Anyway, the number of casual players was something like 30 million in the US.
We got to have humor in fiction no matter how we get it... good pool ... GuyProblem with pool is there are more players than viewers. And big $$ as with major sports is in the viewing/ broadcasting.
Other problem is pool folks are stingy folks.
I mean why do you think the 10 commandments are in 2 slabs.
Story goes that when Moses came down from cave with the 10 commandments that God gave him, it was in 1 slab.
So Moses asked the folks before him who wanted the 10 commandments.
Soccer folks said No thanks. It says “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain”. But one of our greatest players has the “Hand of God”.
Golf folks said No thanks. It says “You shall not commit adultery”. We have arguably the greatest golfer who was caught for serial adultery.
Track and field folks said No thanks. It says “You shall not murder” “You shall not steal”. Our people have done all that and more. Actually, we are surprised that cheating fraud is not one of the 10 commandments.
Then came the turn of the pool folks. They put their hands up and asked Moses "How much are they?"
Moses answered “They are FREE”.
Quick reply from pool folks “Can we have 2 please”
