Great article about a great guy. However, I think "provocateur" has too many negative connotations (see http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/provocateur).

It reminds me of the time someone wrote that Robert Byrne was being inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame because of "the enormity of his contributions to the billiard world."
