Paying Time

It makes sense to put the clock on for 2 players, not 1. I don't think I am wrong here...there are 2 people playing, no?

If the rate for 1 is $10/ hr and the rate for 2 is $14/hr (7 per player), I would be miffed if charged the higher rate while sharing the table with another.,,coz there are 2 people playing and It makes sense to put the clock on for 2 players, not 1. I don't think I am wrong here...there are 2 people playing, no?

First I think if a pool room owner is going to gamble with a customer charging them time is out of the question. Like I said above I own a room and that is not how I operate when I gamble or even ask a Customer to play in most cases.

Being an owner keeps me busy, so I do not get to play that much. I look forward to playing a little when ever possible, and I think if I ask a customer to play the least I can do is give them a little free time, it costs me nothing and I like to give something back for the pleasure of playing.

If I went into a pool hall and played against the owner I assume he's extended this invitation not because I'm a nobody noob that's never frequented his establishment. It's more than likely that I'm a regular and I see it as a gesture of gratitude.

If I came up and the place was dead and I see the owner and say "you wanna play a few racks?" I expect I'll be paying for 1/2 the table time. If he asks me, I expect the table time will be free as he has invited me to play on his table, that he owns.

I've never really played an owner or employee while the place was busy, they are generally busy working.

If I am charged for table time I can't possibly see paying the single player rate, maybe 1/2 the 2 player rate, but no way I'm paying the single player rate unless it's less than 1/2 the single player rate, but that drives me crazy too.

A side note, but don't you hate when you go to a place and they say it's $6.00 for one player or $12.00 for two? That one makes me want to throw things.

If you play pool with the owner at our pool room, it doesn't make any difference if you win or lose, you won't be paying the time. It may differ at each pool room but most owners play pool with their customers to entertain them and to have a little fun themselves. It's not to make an extra $3.50 an hour.

If you do win a little dough from the owner, you might find some other ways to reciprocate, maybe by picking up some snack food for the pool room every now and then or possibly just doing some favors for the owner like picking up beer bottles or cups sitting on the tables next to your pool table and throwing them in the garbage.
