Payouts in Carom

There was a carom tournament this weekend, and Blomdahl won.

Blomdahl made 42 000 $ and runner up Jaspers made around 43 000 $. (Yes, runner-up made more money cause he won highest run etc.)

Is this normal payouts in carom?

Why no americans in the field? (Don't remember the link to the tournament-site now, but didn't see any americans in the field)

There are no Americans in the field because Sang Lee died years ago and he was the only one who had a chance to win as an American in a World Event. We have some emigres who play excellent by US standards, but would need a miracle to beat a number of Euro players.

We might have a better chance at winning snooker money...or the same chance, next to nil.

This tourney paid out more money than average, I believe. Top carom players can make a good living playing the game, but I don't think they're used to getting paid quite this much. I'm guessing they usually win around $10000-$15000 US for winning a tournement.

They used to have 5 Birilli (carom game with pins) tournements that paid good money- Robert Byrne wrote how they made more money than any US pool players in one of his books.
