You may already know.
When using PayPal to send money select that you are sending to friends or family or both ends of transaction will be charged a fee.
This can add up over a years time. A loss of revenue.....
I found out the hard way!

Either this is a joke, or you're stupid.

Which one is it?

PayPal

Send money to me, and select goods or services.
According to PayPal maybe you are, but I was charged because sender selected that he was paying for good or services.

Who is?

You realize the fee you pay is a fee for selling something and collecting payment through paypal, a service they provide. It also provides confidence to your buyer that if they don't receive the product you advertised, they can utilize paypal services to force the seller to make the situation right again.

It's the cost of doing business through paypal. What would you rather do, not make a sale because your buyer is cautious of quality, or take the 3% fee off your total and have a happy buyer?

Good for you, you know some of the facts.

To others, just be aware that when you send money through PayPal you may both be changed a fee.

To billiardthought: I am not interested in the thoughts of someone like you, and I will NOT respond to any of your thoughts.

The buyer is only charged a fee when they select a weird funding source like a credit card. There is no fee when using a debit card of checking account, or paypal balance for that matter.

I won't call you stupid but you are def uninformed.

As billiardthought mentioned, the 3% paypal charges on "goods and services" is a big part of what their business plan is; their fee for providing a service.

*And* they provide buyer protection when choosing the "good and servises" payment option, something that can be very valuable when buying on the net.

People who try to get around the fee by choosing "friends and family" are risking a lot more when dealing with people they don't know - and even sometimes with ones they do know.

I consider it cheap insurance.

Also as an fyi, say you send via friends & family & the sender is using a credit card to do so the sender has to pay a fee too.

Wow! Too Much Drama

Just add 3% to the Selling Price.

Inform the Buyer That The 3% is for PP Fees.

As a Buyer I've Payed the Seller the Extra 3% When I Wanted to Do a Craigslist Purchase.

Same Thing in a Store..... 3% Discount for Cash.

Using the "friends/family" option provides zero protection if anything goes wrong. Say you buy a cue and the seller gets in an accident on the way to ship it, you're out of luck. I 100% will never buy anything and send money as a gift nor would I ever ask anyone to pay that way. I'll cover the fee and protect the buyer myself before I'd risk it...

If you send as a gift, and they don't send cue, you have no recourse as you sent them a gift. Horrible idea.
