The transaction isn't complete 'til the buyer has paid, seller has received payment, and the buyer has received the item. then both parties leave feedback. Jesus, I've seen HUGE screaming matches on the Beckett hockey boards about this crap! You are NOT entitled to feedback right away, just because you've done your part. The transaction isn't over. As a seller, I have no problem with leaving feedback first, but after the transaction is over. You would not believe some of the spew I've seen over this.
You don't collect Hockey cards, do you? Reason I ask, until today, the ONLY place I ever saw this complaint was on the Beckett hockey card forums, and it's one of the major reasons I no longer collect. We've been doing Ebay since 1999 and never had a problem with this.
I would have never seen your post if someone hadn't resurrected this thread. However, after seeing your little sarcastic semi-rant, I guess I'll respond. I apologize in advance for responding in the same, like manner that you responded to me ...
No, I don't collect hockey cards. I leave that to the kiddies in the school yards and goofballs who are willing to pay money for such "crap" (sorry to use your buzzword there). We may disagree, but I can assure you that there are many ebay buyers out there who share my opinion on this. And, yes, after I pay, I consider my half of the transaction complete. What if I pay and you never send the item? Then what? I leave negative feedback and you, in retaliation, leave negative feedback for me? Now *I* have negative feedback and have done NOTHING wrong! That's a fair system?
Once I pay the full amount in a timely manner then, HELL YES, I am entitled to positive feedback and you, as the seller, are entitled to the feedback that you get based on your actions. Why wait for my feedback to see what you're going to say? I've done everything by the book. It's perfectly legitimate to think that I may have lived up to my end of the agreement and the seller didn't. In that case, why shouldn't I have positive feedback and the seller have negative feedback?
If that's how the transaction went, then the feedback should reflect that. Do you honestly disagree with that? If so, I seriously question your business ethics because you're unwilling to look like the bad guy in a transaction, even if you are. If a seller screws up in a transaction, they should get the negative feedback they deserve (that's the whole purpose of the feedback system) and not have the right to give the buyer, who paid in full (and on time), negative feedback that they do not deserve. Period.
I'll make you a deal here so we can put a quick end to this silly debate before it has a chance to really get started. You post your ebay seller name and I promise not to participate in any of your auctions. If you post it you'll give me, and everyone else here who agrees with my opinion, the option of whether or not to buy from you. Don't worry about my ebay name as, once I know yours, you have my word that I will not participate in any of your auctions. Not to mention, you already know enough about me. I post with my real name and have my own picture as my avatar.
