Penn State Motor mod

Has anyone taken a Penn State motor controller and replaced the variable speed pot with a foot pedal? If so, which foot pedal do you use? I have an extra controller and I would like to set up it up this way and cut the speed down thru 2 of the 3 pots on the board so I can use that to do linen wraps on my lathe rather than keep dealing with sewing machine motors that bog down and burn up or burn thru belts plus the 10-15 minutes of setup/reconfiguring time.
The issue I have seen so far is that the speed pot is a 3 wire, and most foot pedals are only 2 wire.

You can lower the speed of the controller by adjusting the onboard pot that is closest to the big capacitor. There are 3 pots in a row.

Mark it before you adjust it. Be sure to unplug the controller and only adjust the pot with the power off or it might fry it...... this is from experience........

Turn the pot CW a very very small amount and try it.... I have mine so it will actually stop with the speed pot set for the slowest speed.

The foot pedal will work for wrapping if you get the speed slow enough.

Thanks

Want to say MANY thanks to Todd for his help in this. I finally got to work on this this past week, and his help and explanations were spot on. Great Kudos...plus a couple greenies..lol
