Personal record achieved 9 ball

I know this is a very easy feat for many players on this forum, but I finally ran back to back 9 ball racks. I have been playing consistently since June of last year. I was so close to three in a row I missed one ball when I got froze on the short rail headed up table and that ended my streak. I ran the rest out without issue. Just curious for you average players what's your best run been?

Just remember that it is a great feat. Lots of people on here talk about what they can do or belittle what others do.
Congratulations to ya.

That's awesome! I have to wonder how many people on here are running racks consistently. When I go out and play I don't see people running racks. I know they are out there but that is a small percentage of the people who shoot pool. Congratulations on your achievement!

I broke and ran 4 is all. Pockets were huge. 9’ box in Bakersfield in 91-92.

I became a better player, but my break is so weak/bad I couldn’t ever string packages together.

I’ve ran 13 twice in 1P, 12 probably 20 times and countless 11’s. 10’s almost everyday I played.

Banks I’m not sure 7-8 is all. However 9B bank is one of my better games.

I was never a great player. No talent, just enjoyed playing and improving.

If I had a good break, let’s say equal to my speed as a player, my guess is I could have ran 6 racks of 9B some where between 92-2012. If I had SVB breaking for me maybe once in my life 7 racks-but that means SVB would have had to break the balls every time for me for a very very long time-20 years. This is just a guess.

4 was my best. I’ve never had anyone break for me.

I’ve played scotch doubles with top players and we ran 5 packs together. But that’s not saying much.

Great job! It's not an easy thing! Hell, I've never done it... got to the 8 on the second rack and missed. 😤

4 is definitely no small feat. Well done.

It can be tough for sure. I hear people all the time on FB say 9 ball is all luck on some of mosconi videos. That's BS imo. Certainly there is some luck, but cue ball control is key along with long shots sometimes where you got to be very precise. I played primarily 8 ball for the first few months I got my table and the transition to 9 ball for me was tough. The pros make it look so easy but it requires solid skill to run out rack after rack. I will say my shot making has improved since focusing more on 9 ball along with my cue ball control. 8 ball can be a bit forgiving in those two areas since you have options to shoot more than one set ball at a time.

For me a good break and excellent speed control on shape is key. 2-3" short or long on getting shape makes all the difference in the world on getting to the next ball and if those balls are not opened up from a solid break good luck

It'll never happen again but one game I made 5 balls on the break(!) then the 5 (orange) straight in to the bottom left corner with a stop shot.
Tapped in the 6 sitting close to the upper left corner which put me on the 7 to the other corner with a nice angle to come off the short rail
for straight in on the 9 in the same pocket as the 7. Ran the rack in 5 shots. Full disclosure: 8 foot table. Wish I had it on video.
As Keith Hernandez once told Elaine: "I hate to brag, but since you asked."

I've ran 5 in a row twice. Once in 2005 when I was 20 and again 2008 I will always remember the 2nd one. it was the day before, I got married. That was such a buzz, to do it again. At both of those times, I was preparing for a tournament. Lots of practice!!

Rock on nyquil! It’s a great feeling getting multiple racks in a row.

I remember how relieved I was the first time I had a fully in control break and run. I had technically had BNRs before but they had been with a combo on the 9.

My first two in a row was the same type of relief. Like I had been ready for it for a while but kept messing up simple things.

I’ve had a few 2s and one 3 so far. The 3 piece was on an oversized 8’ table with 5” pockets. Still an awesome feeling though.

I’ve been practicing 1P and more recently rotacion but this makes me want to get back to 9b. There’s something about the 9b ghost that really puts pressure on

Rotation is the way to go. The best way to improve. No two layouts will be the same.makes you think more. 9 ball Can get very repetitive.
