I'm a jumper, no doubt about it, but I respect the rules of the house. That being said, while every pool hall has those rules prominently posted, they are not intended in most cases for everyone. That's what I've been told by room owners several times. They especially don't want beginners/people who don't know how to jump, to jam a cue stick into the cloth and rip it. However, proper jumping normally doesn't get close to the cloth. Should the signs be up? Of course. Should enforcement of those rules be rigid? No.
As for masses, I never shoot full masses. Little stubby masses yes, curve ball shots yes, but full masses no. Never had anyone in a pool room get on my case for shooting those little stubby masses or curve shots. By the way, I don't look like a beginner either
