Phenolic Tip mileage??

Is there such thing as phenolic tip mileage?
Do players get you to change their tip once they feel the tip loses it performance? Or do they change the whole shaft?

Most break cue I tried, the tip just doesn't perform as good as when it was new. Power seems to be being absorbed when breaking after a certain period of time.

Or could it be the ferrules or shafts or ways of installing a ferrule?

Is there any thing I can do to make it perform as before(w/o replacing the tip)?

Feel free to post or PM your opinion. Advance thanks!

It's your strok, dude. Phenolic tips don't wear out or soften or loose their structure. Shafts don't wear out either. If any thing you have changed the way you break. Maybe if you take a little off in the speed department & concentrate on a good center bal hit & follow through, your break will be better...JER

Hi,

These guys are right about the stroke. Now that you have a phenolic break ferrule your are adjusting your stroke to the new feel. When you optimize your break using this equipment change you can obtain about 10% more speed on your break.

F=MA (Force equals Mass times Acceleration) A great break is all about the speed and control of the cue ball.

i believe there is definitely a life span on phenolic tip/ferrule. I have a predator bk2 and it comes with a carbon fibre backing/phenolic tip. I have had this breaker for 2 years now and the tip is half the size it was originally. I have NEVER scuffed the tip since i have owned it. However, the stick still IMO hits the same as the day i bought it. So i guess when it comes time that the tip goes further down it might hit differently.....just my opinion...

you need to get some 80 grit and rough it up once a week

scratch it with a tip pik sometimes too

Thanks, Dave.

I recalled someone was doing that in the Phillippine World 9 ball, when I was there. I guess I should try that.

Ditto, but I think I will try improve my stroke and Dave recommendation.

even if you dont miscue the tip isnt grabbling like it should so you are looking some energy. hope it works for you.
