Tommy-D said:> I had a chance to ask Charlie Williams,Shannon Daulton,Coltrain, and Corey about this in 2000. All 4 agreed that none of them could have handled Shane McMinn playing 9-ball at 16. Of course Shannon won the LOP at 17 or 19,depending on his real birthdate. All 4 of these guys were sober too.
If Shannon,a road man at that age, says Shane was a better 9-baller at that age, that says a s**tload. Shannon went on to tell me about a road trip back then where the lineup was Shannon,Dennis Hatch, and Archer, with Buddy Hall driving.
All of that is now voided because of Wu. Tommy D.
Willie M played Greenleaf at age 6 and gave him a run for his money. Willie Hoppe won the world championship at age of 12 or 13 from Maurice Vignaux.3andstop said:Dunno if this is for current youngsters only, but a while back some kid named Willie did pretty good for himself also.![]()
jesse was the only person to ever win it back to back in both age groupsOnly ERO's said:AGREED. Shane McMinn was a monster on the bar table and on the big table. I remember going to BCA nationals one year and reading about some of the people in the tourney. I wanted to get an idea of how good some of these kids were. The one online tourney I saw had Shane McMinn beating Jose Parica 9-1 late in a tourney. VERY STRONG. I think Shane has one the BCA title 3-4 times and that was knocking off one Jesse Bowman back then who also won it numerous times.
Jesse would have to be considered a prodigy on a barbox in his teen years. He played strong on the big table but was amazing on the box.
