It says on the news it is being organized by Raya sports and sanctioned by BSCP and WPA, is this the new BSCP officials or the Yen Makabenta group? I did not see the names Pagu, Reyes, Busta, LV Corteza, et al. Why are they out? Someone from BMPAP please answer.

alex, efren, django, lee van not invited,
however,
if im not wrong,
alcano, kiamco, orcullo is playing,
they r in bmpap

its abit confusing,
politics i guess

The front page has a story about this, saying that Ronnie Alcano, Dennis Orcullo and Warren Kiamco have spots in this tournament.

The tournament is organised by Yen Makabentas group and I have it from a 100% reliable source that Ronnie, Dennis and Warren are not going to play in this tournament

WPA still wants the players to take part in this, with the condition that they acknowledge Makabentas group. The players in BMPAP will not do that, since the Philippine Olympic Commite - the highest sports governing body in PI - do NOT recognice Makabentas group, the old BSCP.
Very strange that WPA chooses not to support the decision of the olympic commitee in the Philippines.

So here we go again, another tournament in PI - without any of the top players. Even two of the three top players who were in Makabentas group - Manalo and Gabica - have left ship. In addition to Ronnie, Dennis and Warren, players like Efren, Busta, Gomez, van Corteza - the list goes on - will not play.

I believe its time that the foreign players take a stand also. Yes, this is an internal affair in the PI, but the pool world is very small. In my opinion the top players from Europe, USA and other countries in Asia should start to reflect on whats going on - and not just go for a free ride in whatever tournament is coming up. By participating without involving themselves they just delay the unevitable.

In the meantime, their fellow pro players in the Philippines are taking all the heat and doing all the sacrifices by not participating and therefore giving up a possible lucrative payday.

Gotcha. Yen should not force himself in. He is just wasting quality tournament. It will take another 6 months to pay everyone.

I would be very suprised if they will be playing, and in fact, I am willing to bet that they will not play in this tournament.

Even Gabica and Manalo have turned their backs to Yen Makabenta, and I can't believe that WPA is still doing nothing to solve this situation. However, I am not surprised, WPA does very little to impress me when it comes to politics in pool... :(

When players such as Efren Reyes, Fransisco Bustamante, Roberto Gomez, Dennis Orcullo, Ronato Alcano, Alex Pagulayan, Lee Van Corteza, Warren Kiamco, Radalfo Luat, Marlon Manalo and Gabica refuse to be involved with anything Yen Makabenta and his group are doing, the alarm-bell should certainly ring.

They all live in a very poor country, and few of them are considered wealthy, still they will not play in tournaments by Raya with good pricemoney. ALL these players could cash in this tournament, and the World Ten Ball Championship, still they will not do it, because they are fighting for their cause.

Even after Edwin Reyes got killed it seems that the WPA is not interested in trying to solve this issue...

I wish the players competing at the Philippines Open all the best, and I really hope that Yen "The Rat" Makabenta pays quicker this time then what he did during World Ten Ball Championships. Chia Ching Wu got paid his $ 20,000 for finishing second, more than 4 months after the tournament.

Obviously WPA is satisfied with promotors working like that, and while Edwin Reyes said "what is good for the players is good for pool", WPA and RAYA seems to believe that "what is good for the promotors is good for pool".

I am disgusted.

manalo and gabica just went back again to makabenta's group fyi.

MANALO, GABICA APOLOGIZE TO BSCP, SEEK RETURN TO BSCP PLAYERS’ POOL

Marlon Manalo and Antonio Gabica formally apologized Wednesday to the BSCP board for their publicized “defection” from the association, which they said was a case of entrapment and publicity stunt by a rival group. They explained that they were brought by Joaquin Perez de Tagle to the wake for POC lawyer Ding Tanjuatco, and they walked into a photo setup with Peping Cojuangco and other players. They stressed that they never said any of the statements attributed to them in news stories. “We are grateful for all that BSCP has done for us, and we are not ingrates,” they said in Pilipino. “We have been trying ever since to clear things up.” BSCP officials led by president Sebastian Chua and chairman Yen Makabenta have accepted their apology and explanation. They said steps will now be taken to reinstate the two as players in goodstanding with the BSCP.

How can players trust that the pricemoney will be paid promptly for this event?

I dont know who this poster is, but what he is posting is in best case half the thruth, but most likely it is pure bullshit.

Thruth:
Manalo and Gabica came crying back to BMPAP and apologized, doesnt sound like a "photo set-up".

Manalo and Gabica played in the recent Villards Cup organized by BMPAP, and crashed out in the qualifying rounds - is that a photo set-up also?

Manalo and Gabica were pissed off because they were not seeded in the BMPAP tournament..

The other filipino players are actually pissed off because the leaders of BMPAP were forgiving enough to take them back..

Now, Manalo and Gabica have jumped back over the fence again. Money talks.

This is a spineless behaviour, and again, its really time that foreign players start taking a stand, I am surprised of the ignorance and lack of solidarity and support shown by the pros world wide in this matter.

RIP, Edwin Reyes. The whole world is still watching! Your memory will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER be forgotten.

These two need to jump back to old BSCP as they are the only top players of the group. Meaning they are more likely to get all the money.

have sms gaga/marlon yesterday to confirm the startext... marlon return call at me while at starpaper beside mr. chua and confirms the said news, was concern at their statements that would further hurt the "other" camp... have told him to refrain from issueing such (as i did onto gaga at edwin wake when they turn to new bscp) and for them to take extra care as personal advise...
i do hope "mr.chua" doesn't missinterpret my personal advice to friends:wink:

gandy valle was at my shop today... according to him, most bmpap players including alcano, kiamco, orcullo, busta, pagu, efren wont be seeing action this phil10 and perhaps not even in the wpa sanctioned china, quatar games :sorry:

I have a question. I'm aware that Edwin Reyes was involved in a dispute of some sort regarding competing pool organizations which are apparently vying for a slice of the pie in the P I. I'm also aware that some players are not playing in certain tournaments because of this.

Could somebody provide me with a brief synopsis of this situation?

To the new BSCP officials lead by Mr. Puyat, if you are the one recognized by your POC, should it be justifiable if you sue Mr. Makabenta for using BSCP name?

the newly elected bscp president "mr. chua" called me up this evening and was dissapointed, mad and ordering me not to mingle with his actions... have told him that im not / i was just concern about the said players sudden action and warned them to "take extra care" and refrain from issueing statement that may hurt the other camp... it was a personal advice from me to them! again as arrogant as he is, he even accuse "perry" behind the killing of ER during said conversation.

since the burial of eds remains... i have not attended bmpap meetings/gatherings or meet with any officials/personalities within the group other than gandy valle (sec/director) he went to my shop for repairs
like sputnik I also felt beeing leaft in the cold by the group that we supported and fought for... perhaps everybody's affraid? perhaps still in shock / a month after ERs death?

Mr. Sebastian Chua, I hold you responsible for the killing of my friend Edwin R. Reyes! is it about the 100Million 2006-2008 NSA budget? or is it about your pride and self selfishnes?

nanliliit ako sa kayabangan mo!

Dear Linds,

I am very sorry for the loss of Edwin. I had a good time when I met with you two in Quezon.

Can you please share with us about the incident of the 100 Million? Please PM me if you don't want to make it public.

I think that was the 10 milllion? Was it? The fund that was missing when given to Mr. Makabenta?
