I don't know if you read Buddha 162's reply but I was a part of that conversation he had with the guys in his poolhall. For my money, I would avoid Black. I've never touched one that I liked. They may look good, but for the most part, if its a four or six point cue your after, go with Tim Scruggs. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who didn't like the play of a Scruggs. If you're after something more fancy, try Mottey. He's a genious. As far as Phillippi goes, I like 'em.
But the bottom line is this: if a dealer isn't going to let you hit with one, walk away. Spend your money elsewhere. And never buy a cue without hitting with a few first. Not just one.
