Phoenix Desert Dust Off Started Tonight.

Dont know who won yet but I know that its down to the final 4. Its Gus, Stan, some guy from Vegas, and ?

Freddie Boggs is a good guy and shoots pretty good. He lives up here in vegas now and I see him almost every week at Mickey's and other places around town. Freddie hails from Baltimore originally ... Baltimore Freddie. I've never had to play him or never have played him but I've spent some time watching him and learning - he plays a mean one pocket game from what I've seen.

Nice shooting Jimmy... it's good to seeing you placing well in a tough field.

Freddie! Getting out again!!

Freddie and his bro, Scotty used to be regulars around my area. Definitely a couple of the best that lived in the mid-atlantic at the time.

Glad to hear Freddie didn't forget how to play;) .

As good as he was, I watched him lose to Efren (IIRC,12-7, 11-7) before I knew what 1h was. I did recognize the fact that Efren was a BAD DUDE tho!

Nice shooting Jimmy!

Btw - Tyson did get bumped at the meeting yesterday. He is now a 10.

Long Last Match!

That last match will be posted up on AZBTV at some point, though I'm sure Mike will have some hefty editing. That match took over 3 hours. ESPN was replaying an earlier Bulls game which started when Stan was up 6-2. That basketball game ended before the match was finished. I've never seen anyone slowplay the way Baltimore Freddie slowplayed. My girlfriend went home and went to bed after 3 hrs of it because it wouldn't end. That very last rack Stan ran out was phenominal. He had been left with junk, he cut balls in at crazy angles, got left a weird cluster, which he broke out with a billiard, made the 7 and 9 on that same shot, and left the cue near the 8 for perfect shape, the 10 was near the corner, and Freddie finally gave up. No one cheered after any of Freddie's outs (except for his 3 Vegas road cohorts), but did cheer when Stan got out, especially after that last rack, which was pretty awesome. He was waiting forever to shoot, and when he finally got up it was spectacular. Congrats to my Native brother Stan "The Canadian" Tourangeau for taking the top prize 'aye'.

I could be entirely wrong in what I am about to say since I am basing my opinion on having played one match against the guy and seeing his performance throughout one, lone tournament. With that said, his antics appear to be as solid as his actual play.

I am not the only one who came to that conclusion. I heard similar comments from several people throughout the weekend.

He seemed nice enough off the table though.

"Slow" doesn't accurately describe his pace of play - at least, not without some extreme adjective to describe just HOW slow. But, as you said, he does have an entire arsenal. :)
