Great looking cue....as fancy as I want a cue...it’s a player’s cue.
Those veneers really make the BEM pop.
And vicy-versy.
Nice!
Another Tulsa special. BS made some really iconic cues during his days here. Classic designs that will NEVER go out of style.
Yep. He used the sideways "w" from '72-'80. He left Tulsa in '78 so its one or the other. I'm a homer, i'm claimin' it as a Tulsa cue.He told me a few days ago he made it either there or in Colorado. He doesn't recall the cue itself but said he RARELY use these joint rings ) so it was a custom order ) and that the points, being this sharp, had to have been either there or Colo.

That cue is "strictly business". Just the way I like 'em!
My Rick Howard has no inlays. 4 ebony points and 4 veneers. Ivory joint, and Hoppe ring.I forgot to ask Bill, and he might not have been able to tell me anyway, but I'm pretty sure it's an ivory joint. I looked at it REALLY closely ( with my best pair of glasses on! ) and I believe I'm seeing grain.
I LOVE this cue, Johnny. Have wanted a JW for waaayyyyyyyyyy too long.

You can get one of those blacklight flashlights like they use to check for counterfeit bills to see if it's real ivory. Google how to identify real ivory and you'll find it. Ther's something about a hot needle test also but I wouldn't dare touch a hot needle to my cue.
Enjoy that cue and I hope your feeling better, lots of folks here praying hard for you !!!
Most likely its the real-deal considering the age. If its turned more yellowish it would kinda indicate micarta. Looks tusky to me.
An example of a perfect player's cue!
I love it.
Unless it's been "refinished", I don't think you have to worry about the joint/ferrules being imitation. Billy used real ivory, always.
I hope you're able to use it in good health really soon. God Speed, sir!
