Photoshop help

Lasso the face, hit ctrl+J to duplicate the selected part to a new layer. Go to "image:adjustments:color balance", adjust the necessary levels and click ok. Then blend using a feathered mask.

That is in fact much better. How'd you do that? And can you tell me what color correction you ended up using? Thanks.

There are more complicated and detailled ways but this case only needed minor tweaking. All I did was open the photo in Microsofts Image editor ( stock with Vista) , open the color adjustment control under 'touchup' and adjust the sliders to get the desired correction.

By trade I'm a cinematographer, mostly self taught actually and began my career asking questions much like yours. Photoshop is an AMAZING tool that not only aids the extremely gifted artist (which I am not) but allows the average user an opportunity to manipulate images to their hearts desire. As I developed my craft I found online tutorials very helpful. Most of these can be found by simply using a search engine, google being the most obvious, to look for those terms. Below is one quick video I recall using some time ago to familiarize myself with the program and it gave me the confidence and knowledge to explore the program further. I'd be more than happy to adjust your original image to represent the best photo quality possible, however, the process for "basic", for lack of a better term, photo manipulation is relatively simple to learn or mimic based on tutorials.

I'm VERY new to the AZForum but hope to contribute with more than just my knowledge of the game.

Feel free to PM me with any questions you may have...and this goes to anyone else who has questions on video/audio production....As far as pool, I haven't played or thought about the game on a serious level since the summer of '90...I'm no Eddie Felson, life just happened and I quit. I haven't picked up more than a bar cue or played on a table bigger than 8' since then. I've recently rediscovered my love of the game and am glad to be back.

Thanks. I will do one of those tutorials. I made some progress last night, using the lasso-layer technique. Then I wanted to "write on" the picture, and I wrestled with the text layer concept. Also, it's interesting that developing photos seems to require that the photo have certain dimensions. So I cropped certain photos to get a 20-30 ratio, or a 4-5 ratio. I will pm you with some more info.
