Bad players 'can't stop their rock'
..and 'can't hit the end rail'

Aggressive players are known to 'shoot at white flags'

On the wire

Lock artist

Dead stroke

I can't fine anyone that even knows what the wire is ............ most pool halls don't even have a wire and if they did .... no one would know how to keep score on it.

And no.... the wire doesn't have 10 colored balls on it !!!

I'll bet you don't play straight pool and never heard of a rack apron. No intense offended, just in fun.

Part of the reason that pool is not well accepted by the general public.

I don't agree ^
Every sport and occupation has its jargon...
..if you overhear people talking about other fields...
..it sounds like another language.

Pool, snooker, and billiards are complicated games...
...they deserve their own esoterica
Dumbing the game down never works

From Buffalo Billiards in New Orleans, Louisiana:

"Belly up to the table like a man!"

This is normally a response to someone asking for weight, or a "spot", or a handicap, especially when the handicap is not warranted and a fair game would be for there to be no spot.

Weight, spot, and handicap all mean the same thing; basically an edge in the match that is not a part of the general rules of pool.

------------
Oh yeah, one more. "SAVE THAT S**T!" Normally that line is used when a person feels that they are being conned. I know it's a little crass but sometimes, you have to talk the other person's language. On occasion, I have even heard a player use that line when someone compliments him for a "good shot" while he is still at the table. :D:D:D:D

My one time, now deceased backer William Buffalo Goodwin....RIP...used to call inside English..."inside snow"...was always curios where he got that!!!

Knocking his action

To knock someone's action is to tell prospective opponents about the player's level of skill before he or she has a chance to demonstrate it, thereby in many cases, preventing a match from taking place.

As in: LockNload is a AA player and will clean your clock.
Someone else can define clean your clock.

That's not knocking Joey. Knocking is when someone over inflates someone's ability thus queering the game. The best way to make a game is to watch someone play personally. If you don't want to play, just ask around about someone and you will be talked out of it. :)

I don't agree with you on the knocking definition Ray but that's cool. I mean yes, you knock someone when you overinflate their ability thereby queering the game but the original definition of knocking someone's action is to inform others of a certain person's skill level, thereby preventing them from making a score (winning money from the uninformed). Would you mind defining queering the game?

Also, please send a PM about the skill level of MNORWOOD. He is trying to sneak into our handicapped MONTHLY tournament.

LOL. Never saw Marcus hit a ball.

Soooo. Your definition of knocking is when you give an accurate report on how someone plays and save someone from getting robbed by a hustler?

I think you know what it means to queer a game. "Making someone not feel right about playing".

Knocking a game always been to me, if there was a game made and someone went up to 1 of the players before they started and simply said hey what r u doing u cant beat him,u r n a bad game,of course this can happen while the game is being played too,i dont care what anybody says,if 1 of my friends are in a bad game and i just so happen to walk in the pool room and i see whats going on,i will knock that game rite away, iam not going to sit there n watch my friend get robbed, now if i tell my friend he cant win n he still wants to play(which happens alot)then thats his bad!
