spraying finish on cue in wood lathe. that's about all that piece of SH** delta woodlathe is good for. long story about that. in short, don't buy a chinese made POS!!!!

my dual taper bar setup. by changing the height of the bearing, i can ride along either the butt taper or shaft taper bar. this is a work in progress as you can see by the temporary c- clamps.

You have some nice looking cues.I can't wait to come talk to you in a few weeks.I think I spotted the cue I want.
 
Aren't you heading back up to Dieckman around this time frame? Shop startng to look nice.
 
Looks very nice stix, that cue you are working on(sitting in the lathe looks really nice so far as well, I still have to get a cue from you some time :)

Let me know when you have one for sale :P

hi there. yes, probably tuesday , going to stay as long as possible or until i burn his house down. whichever comes first!!!! :rolleyes:

it's yours!!!!!! 60" cue, kingwood handle with goncalo alves forearm & butt. send $$$$$$ :D

great looking start stix. You want to hear something funny?....we had a delta lathe similar to yours at the millwrights shop in my fathers manufacturing plant. For the life of me I couldn't get that thing within 5 mil of running straight. Then we moved the plant to a new building, and the riggers dropped that lathe about 2 feet off the fork lift while setting it in the new location. From that day on, that thing had almost ZERO run out!!:D

all I could think of is the castings were off, and it took that big of a shot to get it straight. From that day on in the shop, if something was broken, we all said....drop it off the fork lift!:D

hi gerry. wanna hear about my delta lathe nitemare??
bought one week before christmas. before new years, fried a belt.
took 10 days to get new belt. it lasted about 3 or 4 days.
took lathe back to rocklers, they said the spindle was misaligned.
replaced the lathe.
took new lathe home. everything was fine for about 5 or 6 weeks.
then that belt disintegrated also.
again, another 7 or so days to get new belt.
got the new belt, 2 weeks later approx the motor burns up.
another 10 days to get new motor.
this motor lasted maybe another 4 or 5 weeks too.
now i'm on my third motor.
been working fine for several weeks now.
two days ago the switch went out, luckily in the on position, so i have to pull the plug to stop lathe.
waiting another 7 to 10 days for my new switch.
in 10 months, two lathes, 3 or 4 belts, 3 motors and now a switch
i have a buddy that keeps reminding me, "should have bought a jet lathe"
as long as delta keeps sending me free motors and belts i 'll keep it
i took the old motors to a pro tool in cincy, a delta service center, so i could have a spare motor on hand
they won't attempt fixing
said it would cost more than buying a new motor
i asked if they had explained to delta the problem with the motors
pro tool said it was a problem with the winding
i've sent email to delta machinery about this entire fiasco
NO RESPONSE
imagine that!!!
for anyone considering buying a delta wood lathe, DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!
maybe i should try the dropping off a forklift trick
i didn't see that in deltas manual ;)


 
Hi Brent. Good luck in your endeavours. I thank you for the good work you have done on the cues for me and my teammates. I have converted most of them to Elk Masters now and they seem to play very well with them.

Your work is heads above what is available here in Hamiltucky (that's a compliment) :-)

Yes, but not particularly well on those tight Diamonds unfortunately.

Congrats on your shop............... I look forward to seeing more of your work. Just out of curiousity...what is the one thing sticks out in your mind that you learned from dennis? I remember you posting picks from when you visited him not to long ago. dennis does not live far from me and I have been to his shop many times.

i will, when the guy that runs it changes the rules. three schedule matches, my opponent doesn't show up. if an emergency or a good reason other than somebody forgetting to show up, i wouldn't have minded too much. should have been forfeits. one of those matches, the guy begged me to meet him early. i left work an hour early to accomodate his A**, then he stands me up. :mad:
