I finally got time to take a picture of all my cues I currently have. Hopefully this picture makes it to this thread ok.

All cues are Tim Scruggs except the 2 bar cues on the right #11 & 12, they are Bob Frey bought new in 96’. One has a 5/16 pin the other 3/8. All the cues were bought new except # 5 which Tim helped me buy from a guy who bought it new from Tim in 87’.

Actually I do love to buy SP cues, I don’t know why. I had more but sold some along the way. All of the SP’ s were bought in the early to mid 90’s.

There’s something I don’t like about those cues....I don’t own them.

What kind of wood is the butt made of on cue #11? I have an old antique cue that came out of the local pool room where I grew up that has that wood on the butt end and just wondered what kind of wood it was. I have another one that came from the same pool hall and completely different wood, but gorgeous as well. It's something about the very old house cues, they were made of exotic woods that you just don't see in one piece house cues of today.

Looks like black palm, but not sure.

I think you nailed. I googled it and looks like good match.

Here is the one side by side to the first one. It has nice grain kinda like mahogany, but I know it isn’t. The splices are sharp points front and back. The splice is much lower on the cues, about 8 inches further down.

Not sure. Someone said black palm and it could be. I bought this cue during a tournament in PA. It was in a display case so the sale person didn’t know much about it.

I will say this, it’s not the most attractive wood but man does it hit well.

I have many vintage cues with that same wood. I have grown to love the way it plays and looks. At first glance it is not a very exciting color but the beauty is in the grain. IMHO the wood is Brownheart. Brownheart wood was a very common wood back in he day but like so many other woods from South America it is now endangered.

Nice collection, thanks.
