Pictures of World Caliber Players When They Were Young

The other half of the "Miami Vice" pro players. Tommy Brown @ the Sands Reno circa early 1990s. Many here would not know Tommy. He passed away 5 years ago in his late 40s from cancer. He had a glass eye for pretty much his entire adult life, from the same illness that eventually took his life. Would run a 100+ balls regularly in his visits to the Miami pool rooms in the 1980s and together with John Ditoro were the two top players in Miami for a long time. Tommy was a helluva player and was an incredible shotmaker. One of his pet shots was firing a ball into the side from a very shallow angle where the pocket size was barely the size of the ball. He was an exciting player to watch and the youth pool crowd in Miami were like his pool groupies. My girlfriend back then dumped me to date him. I still liked him regardless

I played Mr. Brown in Daytona in 2007, I think. I didn't even
know who he was back then, I found out a few years later
when, sadly, I learned of his passing. RIP Sir, it was an honor
and a pleasure for me.

I have also played a couple others you posted, John and Tony.
What is equally as coincidental is that I've played you as well,
Dave. It's a small world, I guess. Great pics by the way.

Great thread, great pictures!
For some, a warm moment to take a ride down memory lane.
For others, a first wonderful look at some of our world's best during days of full swagger.

C'mon Mr. Bond, time to break out some 'o the great Chicago pictures. You've got'em!

The last pic --- is that Earl playing JB???

Earl playing Tony Ellin......

Also, in pictures just above:

Earl, Cornbread Red

Joe Kerr of Akron (great promoter), Earl, Joe Burns ( owned Forest Park Billiards in Dayton, held great action Tourneys in early 1970s), Buddy Hall

Allison Fisher

Danny DiLiberto

Billy Incardona and ?

All great pictures. I played Joe Kerr several times at Starcher's in Akron,
also played Earl in tournaments there.

Joe would come down pretty often to the College Bowl in Canton, along with Jerry Wolf, Emil Glocar, a fellow called 9ball Paul. We all had fun times.

Thanks for the pictures!

Is that Spanish Mike with Double D?

Joe Burns said dead ball was the most important hit in all billiard games...
...even 3-cushion.
...and he said if you gotta bank a ball for your life, hit high ball with
a lotta speed, "the angle in is the angle out".

Joe Kerr was my favorite TD...got him up to my area for a big one.
Joe made one of the finest banks I ever saw under heat...table length
...nine ball froze on one end rail...cue ball almost froze on other end rail..
..it was a kiss...so he jacked up, hit the nine straight on...whitey jumped
up about three inches and the nine passed under it to split the pocket.
Joe was stuck 13 games at the time, so he wasn't front-running.

Thanx for starting this thread, Will....lotta good memories.
