piece of history on ebay

piece of history

Hey Brent:)

Yeah, I saw it. Looks like it's been cleaned up to me. I asked him about that and the reserve. He said it had been that way for the 20 years he's had it. Wouldn't give me the reserve. I'm going to keep my eye on it and see what happens. What do you think it's worth?

i have no idea ernie. it's not a 360. in the blue book there is a 36 pictured as a one piece cue. but it doesn't give any value. theres also a 36L 2pc cue, but the butterflies & points are different than the 36. tom cunningham might be the best guy to ask

Dave,

He's for real. He just needs the $$ and is trying to get the most out of it. It's a BBC cue conversion of a one piece of some sort, like the Model 36, but judging by the screw the conversion was done a long time ago. The original two pieces had screws in the shaft and this cue is too short.

He had pics that showed the screw in the butt before. He should have taken the 3K bid and run. Now I think there will be gun-shy bidders and it will go for less.

Thanks Chris.........I just thought it to be a little odd to be with ebay that long and not bought or sold at least one thing.
I sent him a questionaire and haven't heard back yet. Looked to be an interesting piece, not beat up and mishandled.

The cue is a Brunswick Model 360, the cue is pictured on page 233 of Billiards and Pool Collectables by Mark and Connie Stellinga.

Thanks for the post, that is a really nice cue!!!!

i don't have that book unfortunately
do you have the 2nd edition of bluebook??
on page 170 is a black & white picture of a 360.
looks similar but is more intricate than the cue on ebay.
was there more than one version of the 360 possibly????

The Model 360 was the primary trophy cue produced by Brunswick from the late 1800's until the early 1900's.

The cues came in many styles, some were wrapped, some had a carved wooden grip, some had leather, and others were like the cue pictured. A major identifying factor of the model 360 is the rectangular name plate surrounded by veneer's, and the butterfly splices that are doubled on the butt and continue up the shaft.

Some also had a Ebony spliced shaft, but this mainly was the cues made before 1920.

The cue in the auction was most likely converted at the joint because the Ivory joint was broken, just my thoughts any way.

Over all the cue is in great condition, and it could be restored to original condition by replacing the pin, and by removing the current joint and the black above the joint and the black below the ivory on the shaft collar.

The stellinga's list these cues in the $8000 price range in original condition, if it is in top condition.
