I just bought a Pierce from Tommie and the bowling alley shafts are the nuts! They feel a little firm but have pretty low deflection and perform really well. I would really recommend one of these if you play a lot of bar table pool with the normal heavier bar cue ball.
I have made this my player for now because the speed in which I break one-pock and the amount of spin I put on the cue ball, I simply aim directly to spot I want to hit. It has some defletion but it spins back perfectly for me. I'm very happy with it.

For a killer cue maker!
And my bud Tommie

ps. Yes, my Pierce cue still shoots better than I do.
For a cue that would improve your game!Or at least make you look good while using it. Not sure what Mr. Pierce does to his cues, but for less than 500 bucks you are looking at a cue that plays great. So many to choose from out there, I know, but for this price, its worth every penny.

Oh, and yep, I shoot with a Pierce cue. Tried 100's.But definitely improved with my Pierce.
