My new Sugartree is on the way. I too apologize for using some of Eric's pictures...but he takes such fine pictures, and they'll have to do until this beauty arrives and I have the opportunity to take some of my own and give it a full review. 2nd from the top in the first picture. Cue has 6 curly pink ivory points to go along with an utterly amazing curly pink ivory handle. Forearm and butt are incredibly dark, almost black, East Indian rosewood. Pink ivory and East Indian rosewood ring work at all positions. This is not, and will not, be for sale gentlemen.

I'd like to take a moment to thank Eric for giving me the opportunity to own one of his cues. I've never met a finer example of humanity in the billiards community. I appreciate everything you do, boss.

The only answer I got was the one that both you and I read the exact same way.

"Its a hobby for me.... blah, blah, blah"

...and of course, that admitted tactic of "playing peek-a-boo" every time I contacted him.

Guess if I was more pushy, I might have a cue now. Regardless, someone else will get my money now.

I don't know if this is asking too much...but...this forum is for showing off cues. My specific thread was to show a cue of mine. I'm sure if you're waiting for a cue from Eric, then seeing others post pictures of theirs probably constitutes salt in the wound...but all I'm really looking for is comments on the work and cue itself.

I'm respectfully asking this thread NOT to turn into anything other than a showcase of work. If you want to pursue a conversation highlighting the absence of a cue or communication with Eric...please do so in either the Wanted/For Sale section, or the Ask the Cuemaker section...and not in my thread. :-)

Pretty please with sugar on top.

I love the single piece curly maple cue too. I've always loved good wood. A good piece of wood stands out all by itself without any ornaments. So yeah...sadly these aren't ALL my cues...but this is one of the nicest cues I've seen Eric build. The pink ivory is certainly unique. I've never seen another cue that showcased this type of wood before.

I have one piece of curly pink.
It'll be cored with Eric's shaft wood.

Any specific reason why you'd core it with wood suitable for a shaft? And you have to post pictures of whatever you make out of the pink ivory. I'm growing fonder of the look by the day...and I'm curious to see what you come up with. :-)

Because of the curls ( which were caused by tree swaying from the wind imo ), I might have to core it. If it stabilizes 3 cuts before final, I might not.
I have several really tight grain and pingy maple dowels that I know are very stable and hit great, from Eric and another source, and will use them with full trust.
 
I just can't wait to walk into the poolroom with a pink friggin' cue. I know I'm going to catch a ton of grief...Sugartree or not. That's ok though...they're going to be pissed off when I beat them like a rented mule with it. :p

Since you mention them...I have a question...

I can understand threading a ferule onto the shaft...but why does that threaded tenon have such a long length? I imagine, obviously, the tenon is then cut flush with the ferule. Is that a correct assumption?

Because when he drills the tenon so he can cut the ferrules to size, he can spin between centers and when he parts them off, there's no hole on the wood tenon.
I do the same. IF the centerholes are there inside the ferrules face and super glue fills them up, it'll make more noise.
I actually wished he put a blue tape over them to hide them.
