Motel Alley off Exit 4 off the Turnpike? When?

BTW, New Jersey very rarely allows left hand turns. We call them "Jughandles" and you have to be in the Right side lane to make one. Which is what you'll have to do to get to The Green Room if you're staying where I think you are. But the good news is, you'll be making one into an Apartment complex that contains a Gaetanos Booming Fat Subs shop that makes great Philly cheese steaks. Just ask Voodoo Daddy. It's what I bring him when he comes up for the Expo.

I'm heading there tomorrow afternoon as I have business in Philly over the weekend. I'll be staying in the Cherry Hill area, not too far from the Green Room. When I'll be able to visit isn't certain, but I hope to be able to get over there for a while, shoot around a bit, check the place out, and so on. Maybe pick up a friendly game or two. :)

Steve, the owner of Classic Billiards used to be a partner at Cue Time here in Chicago. He has a triple shimmed table at Classic. Nice room but too smokey for me... and I'm a smoker. I didn't see any action but lots of regulars. There's a diner up the road that serves something called Scrapple. DO NOT EAT IT.

Your probably talking about the Valley Forge Diner...pass that scrapple over here!!...I love that stuff........I played out of Classics from the day it opened til just after Steve and Cindy took over. You can get all the action you want there, you just have to ask them to make a few calls....

Wow, from the brewing controversy, one would think we're talking about Meuccis and Southwests!

What the heck is scrapple?

Trust me, you don't want to know.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I just lost my appetite... Here's what I found out about it:

"But what parts of the hog go into the creation of scrapple? After the ham, bacon, chops and other cuts of meat are taken from the butchered pig - what remains are fixings for scrapple - including the meat scraped off the head. Scrapple may contain pork skin, pork heart, pork liver, pork tongue - even pork brains. Those faint of palate needn't venture any further."

The Valley Forge Diner is closed.... pulled into the parking lot Thur morning of the Expo & it was all closed up.

Hey Pizza Bob, how ya doing stranger?

I just dont understand how people can talk about a room that they do not frequent like wannaplaysome i figured out who she is and i have never seen her in Ballbusters a day in my life but yet she writes better bring a weapon:confused: some of the best players come to the room with out any problems .I guess people just think that because the room is majority black that it is not safe well the room is safe just ask Jimmy Fusco he is in the room just about every night playing pool or chess

I've been to Ballbusters a bunch of times in the past 10 years. I started going in by myself as a skinny 18 yr old years ago. There are no problems whatsoever. The manager does a great job of keeping the room a player's room. They have the strongest weekly tournaments around, with all of the top players in the area playing in it. You won't have any trouble going there.

Oh come on!......you know you love pigs brains and all that stuff!.....Scrapple is mostly cornmeal, and one of those regional dishes you learned to love before your mamma told you what was in it. Also it's one of those you love it or hate it things.....there's no in between:D

"Wail... mah momma ain't neva done tole me nuttin 'bout dat scrapple stuff... no way, no how."

Checked out Tacony and Green Room

Wow, that Tacony Billiards place is a hoot. When you go in, there's a big 'ole sign informing you that you're being videotaped and recorded.

I asked for a 9 footer, and did they have any tables with tight pockets?

Sure did.

Table 23, I think it was. Got to turn the light on over the table myself, too.

Tight pockets? You betcha. Really tight. Centennial balls. Waxed and polished.

Took off my suit jacket and tie, did the locals watch me, or what?? I was kinda dressed up, on my way to a dinner in a few hours. Polished wingtips, you know, the whole nine yards. And oh yes, I wear suspenders! LOL Kinda resemble that guy in my avatar, but not near so fat!! Wear glasses too, some friends elsewhere call me The Professor.

So I started to warm up, took out my sneaky pete with predator shaft, and started shooting around. Seems I was attracting attention or something, for within about 3 minutes the woofing began. LOL

Ignoring the woofing, I just minded my business. There were several toothless wonders there who could shoot, wow...

A couple of fellows start arguing, and decide to play for 50 jelly beans, and a few minutes later one of them starts cussing and making a scene. Man this was out of one of those movies!! That fellow who "lost" the jelly beans wanted a part of me, I know how this stuff works :D

Nobody came up to ask for a game, although I did hear the word "hustler" in kinda hushed tones, and this other guy at one point stood behind me, trying to spook me, shark me, tried to get my attention, and get me talking... It worked, the talking part, but action? Not with those guys, at least not when I'm all by myself, sure would like to have a couple Soprano types with me though!!

I shot around for about an hour and had to leave. Were those wolves licking their chops, or what??:D

Gotta say, that place was hopping.

=====

After the dinner, I checked out the Green Room. Nice place to play, but must say I prefer the Tacony joint. Next time I'm in Philly and want to shoot some pool, I'll head over to Tacony, sans suit. Just sport coat and tie will do!! LOL

for the record... my uncle was steve lopez and i know when he ran it it was a rough joint... but i guess i wouldn't know anything even if he was my uncle...

well steve passed away in 95-96 so how can you talk about the room when you have not been in the room in about 10 years .So yes i am saying that you dont know what you are talking about its been about 10 years!!!

Very interesting

You know, there was a part of me that thought about this issue when the whole thread started. I wondered if i should add the little descriptives that might or might not help one decide, but then i decided against it.
Cause personally.
I don't care where the pool room is. If i want to play, i want to play.
If it just happens to be in a predominantly black neighborhood, SO WHAT!

And, as a side note, I have been robbed at gunpoint outside of a white room, by a white guy. I have had my car vandalized by asian guys who were friends with the guy i beat at an asian room, but i have NEVER had any problem what-so-ever at BALLBUSTERS!

Over a year ago, BALLBUSTERS decided to join the scratch tournament scene, and has since then, run a weekly tournament that adds MORE MONEY than ALL the other scratch tournaments in the city. REGARDLESS of how many people show up. If 8 people show up, then they have an 8 man tournament with all the money added, and if it's 32 people, they have a 32 man field with all the money added.
Talk about GENEROUS! EVERY other pool room adds money based on the field they get, and that's if they even add any money at all!

I for one will say that whoever discriminates against Ballbusters because of the color of people, you guys need to stop being narrowminded and GET A GRIP!!!

The ONLY weapon i bring to Ballbusters is my CUE!
It's the only one you will need!

i never said anything about the color of people there... i said from what i knew of it it was a pretty rowdy place from what i remember...

first of all i am part of a minority and would never discriminate
