My D.C.C. Schedule.

Nostroke,
I would give you some sympathy, but YOU'RE NOT STAYING UP LONG ENOUGH!!! There is tremendous action going on from midnight to 5 A.M. Try staying up til 5, sleeping til 10 A.M.(that's my DCC schedule). You may find you'll sleep just fine. QUOTE]

I wait until the breakfast buffet opens at 7am. Then bed by 7:45am. Up about 4 or 4:30pm. Start drinking a few beers about 4 or 5am - after any action.
WHAT A LIFE FOR 9 DAYS! - CAN'T WAIT!

OHB,
Breakfast buffet is still open at 10, so if you have lots of reflux and need to eat when you wake up, you're still in luck. See you in Louisville (I'm buying breakfast - I've NEVER had a beer at 7 A.M.).

Hey if we are all gonna have an AZ meetup, I'd like to meet up too...it will be my first DCC and I can't wait!

You don't know what you're missing! :D I was drinking beer at 8am in Vegas. We got to the bar around midnight and there were still 10 of us there at 8.... I'd do it over again in a heartbeat...if they're serving 24 hrs at the DCC then I just might do it all over again. :p

T,
Did you mean do it all over again, or spew it all over again? If you can drink for 8 hours solid, you must have a cast iron stomach (with a liver headed in that direction).

LOL, no spewing. I wasn't guzzling the drinks but I had a drink in my hand the whole time. ;) Actually, I only drink when I go out which is some weekends but not all. I used to drink quite a bit and cut back considerably but I still have a pretty high tolerance. What happened in Vegas was obviously a rare occasion. It was just a fun group of people and time flew by. Kinda like the inside pool party at VF... get there around midnight & leave when the sun comes up... that's a good 6 hrs right there... the place is full from start to end too. :)

The Exectutive West was $70 last year and I don't think it is supposed to go up this year. The construction is all complete & you may drive around for over 30 minutes to find a parking spot if not at Excutitive Inn.

Does anyone know the exact dates of the next tournament? I've got to put in for my vacation & need to know which dates to ask for. Thx

Lots of information (with more to come) is on the official web site:

http://www.derbycityclassic.com/

The hotel does not accept on-line reservations for the Classic, but they have a toll-free number:

If you stayed there?

Im trying to find hotel i stayed at last year, If you come out of the Executive parking lot and make a left, this hotel is no more than 500 yds down on the right- It's a 'Suites' place. Anyone got the name? Nothing looks familiar that i find online. Thanks

I am confused if you stayed there, what is wrong with the sister Executive Inn right across the street. I stayed there one year it was fine and a little quieter. They have a shuttle to take you across the highway. I used it a lot when weather was lousy even though it was a short walk but being from California the cold really bothers me. About the same price. They were owned by same person but since he died do not know what the status is now.

OHB,

I just made my reservations recently, and $70 was still good. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Thanks- I saw that hotel online but didnt recognize the name- Maybe it changed hands since last year? Hotels do that all the time.. I stayed in one hotel in Ft L that Started out as Embassy Suites, wound up a Sheraton and had 2 other operators in between.

Hope i can get the same deal at BW that i did last year.

Rooms are going fast

Derby City Classic

The 8th Annual Derby City Classic

We are going on our 8th year and I have to admit it has been quite a learning experience for everyone involved. The first few tournaments had quite a steep learning curve for myself as well as the hotel. The hotel didn’t know what to expect and definitely didn’t help out. They wouldn’t even keep the snack bar open late enough for the players! Each year has posted a major improvement. I have succeeded in turning the hotel from a liability into an asset….without them I couldn’t add the amount of money I do. This coming year there will be over $100,000 added to various tournaments at the DCC and yes, the hotel adds money! Why shouldn’t they? We are now the largest event they have. Think about it, the DCC is 9 straight days of ACTION!

There are other issues we have had to address together. Improved security, improved broadcasting of event to hotel TV’s, increased set-up days, and additional areas for pool action. Even allowing us to set-up tables in the bar area. They are definitely working with us to handle our needs. I know there were 200 rooms last year being remodeled and noise was a problem at times. The parking lot was restricted due to the construction trailers and equipment. This coming year we will all enjoy the fruits of their labor. I’ll never tell anyone where to stay. Do what ya gotta do. The most important thing to me is that you show up! The money will be added no matter where you stay; however, I must say I could ask for more money to add to the tournament if more people would stay on site!!! Maybe a good snow storm would add to the value of the Executive West.

I have a few huge announcements regarding the DCC coming during the month of September. Check back periodically and hope to see you there!

Greg,
I was there a couple days this past January and I intend to do it again. You do a great job, I had a blast. I would like to see the Banks tournament at the end of the week though. The way it is now, to see nine-ball or one pocket, I would have to miss work in the middle of the week. I really enjoyed the banks ring game last year, it had a very exciting finish. During the banks ring game an old man named Pots And Pans, was out in the hall hollering limericks and telling old road tales, it was a tough decision, to go in and finish watching the ring game, or listen to this entertaining old man. I wish I could work it out, so I can go for the whole thing.

I didn't make DCC 2005, but I'm hoping to make it in 2006.

Anyone else who stayed at the Executive West have some opinions? I figure most hotels let 3 people max. stay in a room (2 beds, one sofa) in general. Is this about right?
