Plain-Jane TAD

I am selling this cue for a friend, so please be patient with questions, etc.

I had his cue and one shaft refinished for him last Christmas by Scot Sherbine at Proficient Billiards, who did an incredible job, and had a new ivory ferrule put on one shaft...his "straight pool shaft", and the wrap was cleaned at that time but not replaced. Not sure of the age of the cue, but the shafts are classic Tad tight-grained aged wood. The cue remains without any dings or scratches, and everything is straight together and apart.

Specs:
Highly figured Bird's Eye Maple forearm and buttsleeve.
Butt: 15.15 oz.
Shaft 1: 3.67 oz., 12.81 mm, not an ivory ferrule, triangle tip (his "9-ball" shaft).
Shaft 2: 3.45 oz., 11.83 mm, new ivory ferrule, Moori III-Q tip (his "straight pool" shaft).
Wrap: White (beige?) with brown (tan?) specs.
Piloted 5/16x18 SS joint.
One fancy multi-color ring on the butt with silver bands top and bottom.
Maple block on ebony (?) rings at joint and shafts.
Butt cap is white, I doubt it is ivory.
Tad logo on butt cap.

Price: SOLD!

just so you know i put "tad cue" in every way possible in the search and it says it is too short to search. the mods should probably fix this somehow

Rayjay,
This is an amazing cue at an unbelievable price.
'82-'85 TAD in pristine condition.

I have no doubt this cue hits like a dream.

Before peeps start beeyatching about the one small shaft,
your price has that factored in quite well.

Please PM me your phone #.

i played with ine for years, 2nd best playing cue behind a G. Szam for me anyways, i had mine repainted but saved TAD.s wrap by Jerry Franklin (south west cues) just before he passed away, i put the cue away after that-jerry was a good friend and the work he did personaly on that cue and he didnt do much work on non SW cues, it was a favor, thus the sentimental value of mine is too hi to take out to a pool room,

That's interesting, Fatboy. I've never heard of Jerry Franklin working on other cues. The owner of this cue is the retired house pro where I usually play, and is definitely "old school"....says the same thing...one of the best hitting cues he ever owned, but I don't think he ever owned a G.Szam...:p

I have the exact cue -

I have the exact cue and the only thing I changed was the tips. Tad tips to me are increadbly hard. I put a Moori M on it and it played wonderful.

I also had Scot refinish mine as the Tad finish chipped easily. The butt cap is delron and Tad puts a finish on it that lasts maybe a month. Most people take that off soon.

When Scot at Proficient refinishes them he doesnt put it back on delron, and the finish is amazing. MUCH BETTER than original IMO.

The smaller diameter of the handle is really good for smaller hand players.

Regards,
Ken

i sold a tad recently that was from the 60's. it was plain jane like this but there was no finish just some tongue oil finish he used back then. all original but only 1 shaft. authenticated by his son. also played amazing
