I've only been into Planet 9-Ball once since it was sold a week ago. The cocktail waitresses outnumbered the customers. I understand that 'they' (the new owners) a husband & wife in their 30s tried to cancel the already scheduled Kings Bay Tournament. I heard at the poker room yesterday that P-9-Ball has taken out all the coin tables (Diamond Smart Tables) and enlarged the DANCE floor. Oy-Vey !

The next thing you know, my favorite Chinese Buffet is going to start charging by the PLATEFUL...... and after that, AZB will start charging it's members a Fee based on the number of words they post. I'm glad I'm a Lurker. :)

Although I haven't been there in quite some time that's sad news. I liked the place, especially the waitresses (well a couple of them). Hope Kenny made a bundle. See you at the Super buffet.

I don't know, you'd better check with Kay at Kings Bay or PM her here at AZB.
The U.S. Open 9-Ball Wheelchair event is also scheduled for P-9-Ball very soon and I had planned to go sweat some of the matches and tip a few with my friends.

I just talked to my buddy and he said that Kings Bay was still scheduled to go on as planned.

Here is what is going on with the local pool halls.

Carzy Cue, now Breaktime in Pinellas Park, owner hung himself in jail on dope charges. present owner is to cheap to turn on the A/C and to lazy to clean the tables and empty the ashtrays.:mad:

Bob's Family Billiards (old owner of Crazy cue), he as cancer and sold his place on 66th st to some new guys from up north, we'll see how they do, hopefully good.

CM's in Seminole CM Lee has some health issues and may sell the place in the future.

West Coast in St.Pete, Wally is selling the property only and it will no longer be a pool hall, CM's brother owned half at one time.

And you already covered Ken (the rolling shark) selling Planet 9 Ball.:mad:

Fatso's in Tampa had a shooting in the parking earlier this year, that always has been a rough area, but has action.

Bakers in Tampa had some remodeling and is still doing good.

Side pocket and Corner pocket (formerly Keg & Cue) in Largo are very involved in the APA and are doing great with that.

Family Billiards in Clearwater, don't ever go there myself, but a guy named David who shoots jam up 1P comes down to the Flamingo every now & then, and says they are doing good.

Stix Billiards on St.Pete beach, never go there, but a friend said they have a $5 shoot all day special, and one of the guys who plays on there league team stops in at the Flamingo now & then and says they are doing good.

KBP tournament is on

To all,
KBP tournament is still on and we have another one on Oct 14 there. There was not an issue with the tournaments that go through the end of the year. Kenny (prevous owner) took care of all of that. The owners are just new and learning. They are making changes but that happens when rooms change hands. We will be talking to them about their plans and see what it does to the tour stops for next year. They had not planned on any cancellations just trying to figure every thing out. So all tournaments at Planet 9 are still in place that were booked by Kenny.They did however let most of the staff that we all know and love go which was a shock. So everyone have fun at the event this weekend. Rick Edwards will be your tournament director on Sunday. I am still healing from the shoulder surgery and having some issues (don't you dare say anything Instroke :-) about that) so I am taking it easy for awhile so I can not only come back to the tour but be able to play again.

Thanks for the update. I visited most all of those places a few years back when I was wholesale repping for a billard supply company. Your post brought back good memories.:)Rep to the captain.

planet 9-ball => peabodies?

Sounds like they're trying to be peabodies... I wonder if they understand that peabodies is successful because of where it is, not soo much the environment.
