Strokers II (previously Planet 9-Ball) in Tampa, FL. will have it's Grand Opening tomorrow.

Jose DelRio has hired Chris back as front desk man and they have expanded the previous menu.

They have removed all the coin-op barboxes in hopes of keeping a certain low pants wearing element out of there and they are turning the room in the back to a V.I.P. room.

Their hours will be 11:00a.m. til 3:00a.m. and noon til 3:00 on the weekends. Same daily Specials as previously...$7.50 All Day rate.

If you're in the area, stop by and knock em around a bit.

I met Jose a few days ago, while playing some with "Artie", who is a DAILY regular at Stroker's, and heard about the new place. Sounds really nice! I'll be out of town tomorrow, but I definitely plan to stop in there soon...maybe this weekend.

Dawg- I will just be stopping up there this time to see how jose is doing but we can def do it another time. I just got married this past weekend and we are leaving for our honeymoon on saturday so we have a lot of stuff to do and friends and family are still in town.

I'll have to let you know next time I go up there after the honeymoon.

Game on. Congrats on the wedding. I made the "leap" about a year & 1/2 back, just had a son a couple months ago. Couldn't be happier. Have fun on the honeymoon. Would like to get together and break up some racks when you get back. Hit me up, I'm game almost anytime.

Doug, did Jose spruce up the interior decor much? I never was a big fan of the outer space thing they had going on.

Tell Chris I'll stop in to say hello when I get back in town.

And PLEASE tell me that Jose is planning on holding a weekly open tourney, $10.00 entry fee or higher. I want some real competition to cut my teeth on. Hammerhead's is a LONGGGG way from Lakeland.

I was there a month ago and got an invite to see the changes. They painted over most of the outer space decor. However they did leave a little in the very back room. Good luck to Jose and all his staff. I will be there next month to check it all out!:)

whats up Russ? have you been to Hammerheads? it is only a couple miles from Planet/Strokers II! this is the nuts having so many rooms to bounce between in a small area!

Actually, I haven't. About the only times I have played in the last four years are LITERALLY the times you saw me in Wally's. I guess I had a hazy idea (at best) of where Stroker's I or Hammerhead's is. I was thinking they were 15-20 miles further than Tampa, for some reason.

My plan is to take a month or two to practice, 8-10 hours a day, and then to build a schedule around the strongest weekly tournaments within a 60-75 mile radius from where I live. I have absolutely no interest in the bar tournaments, unless (multiple) STRONG players play in them. It looks like I am not going to get in as much practice as I wanted in order to be competitive in time for the last few KBP tourneys, but such is life.

I haven't played much, because I know how I used to play, and I am the type of guy who just can't stand playing a bunch of balls beyond my prior level. I got a table at home now, so mebbe when I get back in stroke, we can have some practice matches.

Stopped into Strokers II last night for a minute minutes and talked to Jose, he really fixed that place up. It looks great, he'll do very well there.

Beware_of_Dawg and I are going to hit some racks within a few weeks up at Strokers II (just not next week i'll be out of town the whole week). You should come out as well.

Absolutely...sounds like a plan. Gimme a heads up when you guys will be over there. Couple weeks from now will work best for me...my cue is getting a "tune up".

WOW!! That is a great rate!! It is a good thing that I live so far from Tampa or I would have to have my mail forwarded to there.
 
I hope to make it over soon to check it out.

I was so happy when I heard what they were going to do with the place.

Can't wait to play 1P on the Diamond again, I hope they hire all the cute girl bar tenders and servers back.:D
