Play with Butt heavy cues

I'm struggling right now with my new cue. I've gotten really used to playing with my Lucasi which is pretty forward weighted and I just recently purchased a Dominiak Sweet16 which is butt heavy. I'm wondering if there is a different stroke or something when using this kind of weight balance because I can't get any good consistancy out of it. I can follow draw etc...but I can't control it like my Lucasi. Any ideas?

Right....
that might indeed be the problem .. the sweet 16 radial all the way .. 8 pc but and 8 pc shaft... that right there is a pretty drastic change from a lucasi ... throw in the balance difference and problems can arise ....

I think it might be more the shaft than the balance causing the problems ....

Give it time and if you end up not liking the cue . I would be willingto take it off your hands dirt cheap !!!

Of course, some will tell you different, really though butt heavy cues present problems with your ability to be still. When you are at the table the whole shooter, cue assembly needs to have balance to be lined up, aim and stroke well. Mess with that balance, you mess with your ability. The balance of a cue is a factor and the weight needs to be between your hands, not behind them. Same with shotguns. As said above, you have to adjust to a butt heavy cue, whereas a forward balance cue seems to help you get the job done instead of making you adjust to it.

Well said.

To exaggerate a little if I may, if the balance point was where your hand grips the cue, you have completely lost any triangulation ability, which in the case of shooting pool two dimensional. 'Triangulation' - couldn't think of a better word. Must come from watching too much Star Trek LOL.
