Played a couple of AZBers

I got to finally play one of our own AZBers the other day. His name is George and he plays a heck of a game of 9b! I think I underestimated him a little and I blinked and he ran about 3 racks on me! Another strike at Gremlin's idiotic comment that all of the players on this board are just wannabes! I had to really bear down to make it a competetive game! If you're reading this George, just want you to know that I enjoyed the game and am thoroughly impressed with your game! See you soon for some more.

RickW,
Besides the "usual suspects" that we know are really good players I recently found out that the best player in our straight pool league lurks here. I wish he would post something so I can figure out how to beat him (or at least shark him - maybe he'll divulge some weaknesses I can use). I also know that Danny D. was very impressed with the game of another poster here (ZigZagMaster). Grady plays fairly well also. :) :)

Well, I'll tell you Willie, I'd be willing to bet some v cash that Gremlin wouldn't like to match up with a whole bunch of these AZBers. What do you think? George told me that he just started playing again about a year ago after I'd say a 20 year layoff or so. I don't think I'm going to want to play him at all in another year or two!

No Wannabes in Sacramento

RickW,

Thanks for the Lesson/Match/Game the other day. I was my pleasure.

I've known George for about 6 months (maybe longer) since he's become a regular in Hard Times Weekly Sunday 9 Ball tournament. George has shown that he hasn't suffered too much from a 20 year layoff. His game is enough to compete with some of the best Sacramento has to offer.

IMO, your game is as good and if you could make the long trip to Hard Times on Sundays, you would compete as well as George.

I agree, just because real pool players can operate a computer, go on the internet and post in pool forums, doesn't make them 'wannabes'.

Thanks, Rick. (You, too, Tom) Rick, I enjoyed our game as well. You ran out your share of racks, too! It was fun. I'm looking forward to getting together again and playing some more 9b with you (and maybe some 1P and 14.1, as well). Competing against someone with as good a game as yours might help elevate my game and make me more competitive in the weekly Hard Times tournaments. After a 30+ year lay-off, I'm enjoying the game more than I ever did (even with only one good eye and a rusty stroke!).

You're right, Tom: if Rick played in the Hard Times tournaments, he'd probably finish in the money very often. Maybe some of us "old guys" could give those youngsters a run for their money!

See you Sunday, Tom; and, Rick, I hope we can get together for a game again one day (or two!) next week.

I'm a wannabe.. Wannabe able to feed my kids, pay my bills, and live like a decent human being. A long time ago I found out that pool is good as a supplement, but not a full time income. I'm not a champion caliber player but, had I decided to pursue that for a living, I think I could have been a very strong player. I still play good enough to give them some headaches at the tournaments. I guess I'll just stay a wannabe and keep making a living. No offence to anyone on AZ intended. Hope everyone had a Merry Xmas. Sam

Rick I am going to be in Stockton tomorrow, maybe if you're not busy we can get together and knock em around. I can meet up with you over at Bucktooth's place if you'd like. Send me a PM if you want to meet up.

Sorry Thebigdog

I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it dog. I woke up yesterday with a whopper of a cold/flu/whatever and I've been spending Xmas going from the couch in front of the TV to the pc in my comfortable house clothes. You know, the ones you wouldn't be caught dead in in front of strangers. I got a box of Puffs Plus in one hand and Nyquil in the other! I'd be lucky to just get there at the Tooth's place let alone play!

I would love the opportunity to meet you though Dog. I didn't know your dad and your grandfather but I sure heard a lot of good stories. They were well thought of by anyone I heard talking about them. I'm sure you got a lot of game in you coming from that kind of stock. Maybe next time okay?
