Got a little bit of the pool bug back watching the Diamond Tour on Lenny's stream. Went out today and practiced for 45 minutes. I don't think I ran one rack of 9B. Table needs to be leveled and (can't believe I'm saying this) new FAST cloth put on. I figure the faster cloth will be easier on this broke down 75 year old body. Johnnyt

That's great news Johnny. I know you truly love the game.Get your stroke back and hit the road and do t look back. Put that mustang to some good use.

Thank you. I'm afraid my nurse (wife) won't let that road thing happen. If I can play a few hours a day W/O going crazy with the break...I'll be very, very happy. Johnnyt

I am still on my hiatus from pool due to surgery.
The outlook is I'll likely resume playing pool after 14-15 weeks layoff.

It's only somewhat recently I've been frequenting the pool halls; it was too frustrating before.
Being on the sidelines lets you spot swing imperfections & mechanical breakdowns in others.

Those same shortcomings undoubtedly reside in my own game and so this vacation of a sort,
well, it allows me to ponder my stroke execution and mentally commit to developing a more
balanced, smooth stroke with more deliberate swing execution.

That's about all you can do when dealt a pile of chicken shit to cope with......you try turning it
into chicken salad but always just remember not to mistakenly consume any.

p.s. Pretty much any time you have extended time away from pool, you return rejuvenated.

I can't enjoy playing pool anymore. I just need to face it and look for another hobby. I just have too many health problems that have got much worse the last two years. Now that I can breath much better, the Arthritis in every joint is just too bad to play, much less enjoy playing. I know I didn't quit...my body did.

I'll stop in on AZB now and then, but my main thing right now is something to the replace 70 years of pool. Johnnyt

You will never replace pool with anything. You could take up knitting or crocheting, but your fingers will get to hurting pretty bad. Don't play long sessions and just ease back into it. Don't give up....,keep fighting.

Obviously I could never understand your situation.......not even begin to empathize either.
One's body tells you what you can attempt & discomfort & pain let you know what you can't.

Perhaps you can help others by passing along the knowledge you've acquired since your
skills aren't up to demonstrating how to do something. Start a penny ante poker circle with
any folks interested in passing some time that some others seemingly lust to be able to do.

Nothing will substitute for being able to walk over to the pool table & actually play once again.
So don't try to find something to replace it.......you never will......think of it as something to do.
Figure out what activity you can perform and go after it. Even consider joining a chess club?

I see it this way. You're merely a few cars ahead of some of us on life's highway......look in your
rear view mirror & you'll probably see some of us waving at ya. It's sad....really....but inevitable

Best of luck finding something that provides a sense of satisfaction from competing at something.
