OK, who knows the name of the player ranking system in which you shoot 15 balls, first 10 count for one point each, the last 5 most be run in order, and are worth 2 points each. I'm drawing a blank here...

fargo i believe

Fargo?? I think a prof pool player developed this system..... You add up your scores, and it puts you in a range of the level of player you are... I've seen it here before, just can't remember what it was called, or who developed it....

Isn't that the *exact* scoring system for Joe Tucker's "American Rotation"? I guess the only difference is that this rating system allows the first 10 in any order, whereas Joe's is full 15 ball rotation.

Yeah it's the Allen Hopkins Q Skill Rating. It's pretty fun, but I like Fargo better because you decide when to turn it into rotation. Yes, it is differnet than American Rotation because it is part straight pool and part rotation unlike Joe Tucker's game, and it has several other rules that make it suitable for solo practice rather than a head to head competitive game.

As others have pointed out, this is the Hopkins Q Skill rating system. The Fargo rating drill is similar. FYI, these and other player rating systems are described in detail on the player rating resource page. I personally recommend the Billiard University (BU) playing-ability rating system and pool workout. If you try it out, please post a score on the BU thread.

Dave
