Players' Cue Choice

Jose Parica was playing with an Omega at last year's Super Billiards Expo. He said it was a GREAT-hitting cue, and for the money, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better value. That's straight from the horse's mouth!

I am going to go out on a limb and say that it was a new Omega which is a import. I've heard that they play alright but have never had a chance to play with one. Omega/dpk cues were made in Chicago by Mike Bender with a little help from Dave Kersenbrock.

You are correct, Murray Tucker.

I'm learning. I've recently discovered that there are several entities of cues with the same name from this forum: Hunter Classic Cues in Arizona and Bobby Hunter custom-made cues, and now Omega import and Omega/DPK cues! :p

Just wondering what AZers enthusiasts would consider to be a real players cue? Without thinking of the aesthetics in cue design but merely based on how the cue performs and hits. A lot of cues prices are jacked up by inalaydesignsand nnames but just basing on the bare essentials of what we use the cue for, hitting balls with it, what would be your choice?

Well I'm kind of fond of the way my cues hit but they are next to imposible to get hold of. I also really like Black Boar, It's George and Schon.

I'd love nothing more than to try out a Tucker cue, but I can't even get on the wait list to order one up. Add to the fact you almost hardly see one up for resale, speaks volumes to me. Oh well...

Offer Jim S an offer he can't refuse on that Brazilian rosewood/olivwood MT he has. That cue has to hit a ton and looks stunning.
I've only seen one MT on Ebay and it was fought off like a wounded cow by piranhas. :D

Another guy that is not yet well known is Bob Griffin. He goes by Maddison Bob, and makes one of the best hitting cues I have ever played with. He produces a very consistent hit from cue to cue and does great inlay and finish work.

Thats why Baskin-Robbins makes 30 something flavors. What might hit fine for you is crap to me. Now with that being said you have to find a cuemaker to work with who makes a cue the way you want it to play.

Mike Webb: Just when you think you have him pigeon-holed into a style he evolves his art into a different direction. In doing so he raises it to a new level.

BCM: Nice cue for the $

Blud: Maybe the only high profile cuemaker that sells an affordable sneaky Pete. If you can get a Pete with a reputation like Bluds how can you go wrong?

Layani: Good cue, good hit, and your $ goes a little further in Canada

Diveney: Makes a beautiful SP for a nice price

Madison Bob: Nice que, hits firm with a forward balance.

Blackheart: Makes cues that feel like my old D-Series Mcdermott, without all the weight in the ass. Nice cues

Now saying all this I'd still love to get a Tad "Martin style" players cue... You know the birdseye froward and butt with the white and green Cortland style wrap.. That a definitive players cue style.

Here, here. I love those......If I could have parted with 1300, I would have bought that last one that was up on ebay.

I'm still playing with an inspired model by Z.
A little different with a leather wrap and a checker ring on top of a shorter delrin buttcap.
Check the two on the left[Cues

I agree with Woody. Madison Bob makes a great cue (especially for the price). When this cuemaker decides to come out of the woodwork, I believe his cues will be very popular!
